I just kind of go and most of the time have to take a little walk about 3/4 of the way though. I figure if I can set a good split for a distance it will be easier to maintain a steady pace.
Today is Hockey Day in Minnesota!!! Plus the Wild game is on tonight, so psyched!
I will be running today and maybe resort to the treadmill for the next few days as windchills are expected to be around -40 to -50 for the next few days. When is this streaking starting? BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR BRRRRRR^n You people have seriously big ba-----well, maybe not in that kind of weather but wow. That's why I was concerned about the streaking!!! I doubt I could handle a serious case of frostbite down there. |

Master 7712 Orlando | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! mn_av8or - 2013-01-19 2:00 PM I have the 310xt. I generally don't pay attention to my pace while running, but admit when it beeps for the mile split I sometimes take a peek. What garmin watch do you have? Does RunKeeper give it to you audibly? I think it would be hard to visually check my upper arm all the time.
Thanks for the quick responses! |

Master 3870 | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! rrrunner - 2013-01-19 12:11 PMYou can set runkeeper to tell you your splits based on time or distance. For instance I have mine set up to give me my distance at 15 minute intervals. You can set it to give average pace or speed, current pace or speed or current split pace or speed. ETA: the cues are verbal I like runkeeper as well. Time/distance/avg per mile. I set it for every 5 minutes because I need validation that I'm actually moving...and I can make it LOUD! |

That's the desert I know and love! TJ, that sounds delightful! I have to admit, we are having a stretch of nice weather (read: it is not pouring rain for days on end), but cool temps (30ish overnight, 40ish during the day). |

Veteran 416 Cleveland, Tennessee | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! So I am looking at starting a training plan, getting some structure into my training. I am looking at the Chattanooga Waterfront Tri (oly) on July 7 and NashVegas Half-Distance on Sept 7 being my A races. I am leaning towards dropping a full IM from my schedule this year. I might do a late season HIM or full Mary. I am sure I will find a couple of more B races once I move and get established back in TN. So my questions are: Should I start a training plan for an Oly then do a "bridge" type plan between the Oly and the HIM? If not what kind of training plan would the Manatees recommend? It will probably be a custom plan from BT. For Chattanooga I would like to be competitive. I also want to take about 20-30 minutes off of last years time of 3:08. I can already tell I am going to be better prepared for the race. I want to make sure I am well set-up to also deal with my travel time in May/June with a decent base by then. |

Ok, last season was my first, so take that into account when hearing my opinion. My A race last year was a HIM. I trained for that, and put in an Oly race as part of my training. It made the most sense to me to direct my training for my A race, and used some races as long training days. It worked well for me. I did about 4 sprints as well. |

I meant to say that I would love to try and do both the Chatty and NashVegas as A races. But I am not sure which way would be the best way to tackle that. Last year was also my first tri season, and it was only 2 races. Not a lot happens here in Alaska tri rise after mid summer. We have a decent amount of running races, but few tris. |

Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! MadMathemagician - 2013-01-18 4:29 PM Well, work has settle down to a pattern and now will allow me to get back on some semblance of a training plan. I have a fitness test to do tomorrow that is required of all officials who wish to be considered for the state play offs in May. The sport is soccer. I will rest and enjoy what the day has to offer. Cooking is fun and relaxing for me. Supper this evening will be roasted Cornish hen, Provencal style. Scalloped potatoes and french style greens will be the sides along the ever present garlic bread. I will make do for liquid refreshment with well water and a good Merlot. The aromas coming from the two ovens have the dogs salivating. I refuse to confirm whether or not I too am drooling along with the dogs.... It's a long weekend so I should be able to get a lot of training in. Weather expects to play nice this weekend. Sunshine and highs in the 50's are promised. We'll see. Pardon my ramblings but even though the dogs are good company they do have a limited vocabulary. Your meal sounds wonderful, how did it turn out? Hope you get the chance to get outside and enjoy the warmth and sunshine! |

I went grocery shopping today to make chilli and apple cinnamon muffins. I am looking at a ride tonight and maybe a run today. Probably a run tomorrow with some cross country skiing. Sunday a run outdoors at it will be warm. Monday I will probably also hit some cross country skiing. Otherwise I am relaxing and doing some cooking. Wow...that sounds like a really nice weekend! Enjoy yourself (bah! like I need to say that) Will we have food pics anytime soon again? Here are a couple shots of my chili. This is vegaterian and an adaptaion of the recipe from Scott Jurek's book. Before cooking. This is after cooking. I will post a couple pics tomorrow of the muffins. That looks seriously good, I love a nice, hot chili and the addition of carrots looks good, I may need to try that next time I make some. Edited by melbo55 2013-01-20 7:03 AM |

Master 1970 Somewhere on the Tennessee River | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! 45/30/15 Trainer/Treadmill/upper body weights. Burnt enough energy to consider it a sprint tri. Got all my training in early today so I can take advantage of the abundant sunshine and 50ish temperatures today. I'm going kayaking! Hmmm, should I take a short or full wetsuit? Water temps are in the low 40's. Carpe vivere. Memento mori. |

I think I'm getting sick, and I have a headache from getting up with E so many times. Plus, I've been worried about the distance given my lack of running lately. So, yes, I am lame. |
