Veteran 659 East Texas | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! Ran my first 10 miler this morning. Felt really good and actually had to keep holding back towards the end of the run. I had plenty of gas left and could have gone further/faster. 9 months ago I ran my first 1.5 mile run and barely made it through it so nice PR today. Everything looking great for my first 70.3. |

Master 1890 Gig Harbor | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! Uggghhh - I can't keep up with my podmates updates! I had a pretty decent week of training, but found myself a bit overwhelmed in that I wanted to bump my running mileage up to more than I have ever done, but also find time to swim and bike. Didn't go so well and I failed at all of them. I had a good week of running, but didn't do what I planned. This week is not looking so hot yet either. I skipped my LSD yesterday, because I went skiing all day Saturday and I had to clean my apartment and do laundry yesterday. Had a blast skiing though. Conquered a double black diamond that was one of the most advanced ski runs I have ever been on. The adrenaline rush from that 1 run lasted me 2 days...it was awesome!! I think I have a date tonight - so won't have time to get in the LSD today either. I am racing in Canada this coming Sunday (a 15K) so I'm going to just log my miles and then go try to crush that race. I will work on building next week, but now I'm scared I don't have time to be ready for my planned marathon in April. Oh well - the Ironman is more important, so maybe I'll just switch the marathon to a 1/2 marathon and go for a PR. I have read some of the past posts - and want to say awesome job to all racing / training manatee's. Will try to stay more up to date this week. |

Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! My race on Sunday wasn't my best effort, but it was OK. Started out way too slow, not sure if it was the crowd or me or both. There seemed to be more people there than usual, and for some reason I just wasn’t pumped up, maybe because I knew I was on a tight schedule and it had me a little off. Most importantly I finished ahead of the girl in the outrageous pink outfit (trust me, it was MUCH worse than just pink but I hesitate to describe her in too much detail on the miniscule chance she is on here and would read the write-up) and her somewhat less bizarrely dressed friends. I planned on shredding my legs and puking up my lungs if necessary to not let her beat me, but thankfully it wasn't necessary! 2nd and 3rd mile splits were more in the range I was hoping for over the whole race. There’s always next month to improve my times! For your viewing pleasure I present: 1. the reason I do the Frozen Foot race series: homemade chicken corn noodle soup!

CONGRATULATIONS MELANIE! Every race isn't a perfect race ... in fact, the one-in-an-umpteenth is ... so really, you did awesome and figured out some more angles for the next one. Way to go not getting Pinkie'd, though Nah, no cookies ... Vegemite on toast, hot chocolate, and ... uh ... a knifeful or four of Nutella. Fun pics! I've never been on a Zamboni but i do like to watch them (who doesn't?). I want one of those face things for New Zealand! |

Master 6595 Rio Rancho, NM | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! Got some video at my swim today (some of it is entertaining with the people in the adjoining lanes). Gotta do my run now but I'll fiddle with the video later (sounds more fun than putting away Christmas decorations). |
