Yeah, dangerous winds - 35mph sustained, gusts at over 45mph. I knew I'd hate the run if I did it outside. |

If I don't get the bathroom back up and running that may not be the case for much longer. I have taken PBJ Uncrustables on rides as well as Fig Newtons. I can generally eat most anything solid so far. Have not tested it though after swimming long, biking long and then getting to the run. I had a Clif Bar in bites on my trainer ride this weekend of 2 hrs and 45 min and had no issues along with the perpetumn I used.Wow 3 hrs on the treadmill. I have a tough time with an hour. Nice work.Brian-That sounds like a crazy busy weekend! Did you get it all in?
I rode 53 miles on Sunday. That was my longest bike ride in probably a year or more. Felt pretty good. First half was hilly and the second half was nice and flat I made a pbj sandwich and took some big ol bites out of it when I was stopped at signals. I am thinking that is a good fuel for me. Tasted yummy and no stomach issues. |

Pretty tasty. Come in Strawberry and Grape. |

Expert 977 Huntington Beach | Subject: RE: Full Vineman Triathlon : Official Thread Rode for an hour on the trainer last night while getting caught up on American Idol episodes. Pretty sure I didn't get anything out of my ride. I had it in the small ring and just spun an easy pace. I barely broke a sweat. Anyone else have those training days where you just go through the motions and feel like you just wasted your time? Frustrated with myself. I guess there is always today to redeem myself. |

Anyone else have those training days where you just go through the motions and feel like you just wasted your time? Frustrated with myself. I guess there is always today to redeem myself. No, but there are times like tonight on the trainer ( 1hr. 15 min) where I was hurting and wanted to just quit, but pushed through it. Slowed it down. That was after 2500 swim this evening. Stopped in at Applebee's for my wfie to get her a salad, nothing for me. I had a PBJ and then onto to the bike right away. Long night. There are times that I say I am going to do that, but end up not and going much harder. It is part of my impatience which I need to get better at. Have a great weekend. 3 hr trainer ride on Saturday and 1hr 30 min run on Sunday plus a 2500 Continuous swim. Lot of training to do. If I get it all done it will mean I got all my workouts in. : ) |

Expert 1276 Salem | Subject: RE: Full Vineman Triathlon : Official Thread Boy my bottom is very sore after my three hour trainer ride this past Saturday. I have been experimenting with wearing bike shorts over Tri shorts. This is my plan for Vineman. I think I need a better pair of bike shorts. I have some cheaper ones. I have read a lot of reviews on Desoto 400 mile bike shorts. Do any of you recommend others you like. I probably will go with bib bike shorts and slide those over my Tri shorts for the bike portion as well as a full zip bike jersey. Just easier to get on when wet.Any other thoughts? |

Expert 977 Huntington Beach | Subject: RE: Full Vineman Triathlon : Official Thread I have always found my tri shorts to be way more comfortable than my bike short and planned on riding in my tri shorts. However, I just got some new Castelli bike shorts that feel amazing. I am thinking that I am going to change in T1 into these. I think I would rather spend and extra couple of minutes in transition and be comfortable for the bike. |

Veteran 395 Henderson,NV | Subject: RE: Full Vineman Triathlon : Official Thread It was a great weekend, got in all my training and even got in some extra mileage on my bike on Monday. As far as what to wear I'm going to have to experiment between using bike shorts or tri shorts, I want to be comfortable (though I realize thats a relative term on a 112 mile bike ride) but I don't want to waste too much time in transition, I don't know how slow I might be and don't want to risk missing a cut off. |

I...WILL...DO...THIS! |

Extreme Veteran 725 | Subject: RE: Full Vineman Triathlon : Official Thread I had a good week this past week and did most of my workouts. I did skip a swim. My run pace is still very slow. I need to start incorporating speed work to get some speed back. I HATE speed work, but it is time to suck it up and do it. I have a 5K this Saturday which will force me to work on speed. Feeling good as the volume is really picking up. |

We stayed at a Best Western in Santa Rosa and it was OK. It seems like not luxury hotels sell out pretty quick for this race, so you probably want to nail your lodging down soon.
Also, I booked our room through a large travel website (probably the largest) and it ended up being a mistake. I checked that I wanted a non-smoking room, but that is actually just a request and not guaranteed. When we checked in they were out of non-smoking rooms, so we were bumped to a smoking room. After talking with the hotel and the travel website for a very long time I learned a valuable lesson: The people who book through the Best Western website are guaranteed their room selection, but when you book through the travel site it is simply a request. The hotel manager even mentioned when there is a motorcycle or car race in town they have the same problem, but with a reversed smoking preference. |

Elite 3658 Roswell, GA | Subject: RE: Full Vineman Triathlon : Official Thread AbbieR's course review was really great, but I thought I would add a little bit: Swim: Yep, it's pretty shallow, but who cares? I thought it was a fairly easy swim. B2B with the current was the only IM I've done with an easier swim. I sighted most of the race by keeping the same distance from the shore. Bike: It was cold at the start. I remember my feet being numb. There are sections that are extremely bumpy. The road was nothing but patches! I watched a guy eject a water bottle from a frame cage. Yep, that bumpy. Run: It was hot and sunny last year. The course is on the boring side and fairly hilly. Be ready for the hills! I wasn't. The race is very well organized and supported. |

Good to know. I booked at Best Western through Priceline. Hmmm. Maybe I will try calling them the day before our check in date to try and make sure I get a non-smoking room. |
