So....How many time checkpoints will the IM have? Swim, T1, bike, T2, run?  Or will there be 1/2 splits on the bike and run that family can see if they are tracking?

The past 2 years there were 4 on the bike and 7 on the run.....but nothing seems to be the same as it was the past 2 years so we may get to wait and see.  I love all these last minute surprises

GP160 - 2009-08-20 12:56 PM so what color ribbon should we use?
"Safety Yellow" to match the shirts!

If people want me to I can go to the local craft store and buy a spool of "safety yellow" ribbon. Then I can pass it out at the dinner and at the gatoraid swims. Depending on the cost I might ask people to throw in a buck. Having never bought ribbon before I don't know if it'll be $3 or $30.

I apologize if this has been addressed before but ....does anyone have any recommendations for a sunscreen that holds up in the heat and humidity or do you just default to the sunscreen sprayers on the course?

I used coppertone sport 50 spf, (spray kind), for my HIM. Worked great!

I use Shiseido sun protection and it's the best I've used (I am a male).  Only problem is takes about 3 washings to get it off so I only can use it one long weekend workouts.  Very good.

I use Bullfrog.  Water proof and does the job all day long.

If you want your family to track you I HIGHLY recommend renting one of these units.  I did a beta test last year and my wife will not allow me to do another IM without it.  At any point in time she can see where I am and what my speed is on the course.  The IM site was very slow to update last year.  Plus this years model is 1/2 the size of last years so you wont even know its there.

I'd say a yellow safety/surveyor/caution tape tied somewhere on the back of your bike or seatpost where it's visible from behind will work.  You can even tie some on your race belt to strike up a conversation on the run.   Home Depot, or maybe even Wal-Mart, should have a roll available.

Bullfrog works awesome- I have found that the gel works better than the spray.

Anyone find it odd that my bib # is 619 and my birthday is 6/19?  Assume there's no rhyme or reason to this?

By the way- it feels wierd to see it in writing... we're a little over 9 DAYS AWAY!!!!!

I cannot see the race NOT having athlete tracking if they had it the last 2 years.

As for sunscreen, there are volunteers who sprayed everyone. Not sure what it was but it worked.

Trakkers GPS will have a booth at the expo and they have a similar technology where you wear a chip and your family can track you all day long.  I am suppose to be one of their 50 guinea pigs this year.  They may be looking for more guinea pigs at the expo.

They sent an email out earlier this week saying they would not be in Louisville now.  Going to focus on fall marathon schedule.
