Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED Looks like she kicked butt on the swim, as we would expect. Very sad to see it looks like she didn't finish the run. Hopefully it was just because of running out of time and not illness or injury. It is truly incredible that she was even able to start this race given all the illnesses she's endured the past year. I'm sure she's disappointed because she is a competitive person, yet she is also very grounded and has a great view of the big picture, so she's surely content on some level with what she's accomplished. Hugs for you Yanti!!!! You ROCK!!!!! Yes, I thought of you all night last night, sending prayers and positive energy your way during my leg on the bike and the remainder of my awake time. You are a beautiful person physically and spiritually, Yanti. Be proud! Edited by melbo55 2012-12-09 9:29 AM |

But she's fine and happy and still noticing piglets, so I am happy for her. Seattle | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED KansasMom - 2012-12-09 6:55 PM Well, it was fun. I really hate when I can't "race." My knee was just too swollen for the ROM I need. That being said, it was really as good as it could be. A GREAT course, fun crowd, well organized etc. I even had time to pee beforehand. I ended up 12th female and 3rd AG but it was far off from a PR. It's really too bad I wasn't able to dig deeper but I just couldn't. I guess I'm being hard on myself but adjusting goals like that is tough. I do have to say, I'm proud of myself for getting out there because I was really tempted to skip it and sleep in. But then I realized that there are going to be plenty of days that I will have to just get out there and give it my best. I'd only do one or two races a year if I waited for everything to be perfect Marathon training officially starts tomorrow! 18 weeks to Boston!Asalzwed - 2012-12-09 2:34 PM Burnt? Sunstroke? Good job on getting out there, yet holding back and not overdoing it. |

Thank you everyone for posting this weekend, it was awesome to be able to follow what was going on with Yanti. And Yanti, you are one awesome lady. I can't wait to read your story from the race. I hope that you are resting and healing up over the next few days. OK, so yesterday I got my Jogo challenge time in while walking to and from the stadium to watch the Bucs game. I am asking the Jogo judges if I can do nothing today and double up tomorrow? How about it, is that OK? I have nothing on the calendar for today, but I do have a group ride scheduled for tomorrow morning. And I hope to see the pool on Wednesday, so that will be the first bike and pool time in a month. Enjoy your week everyone. Yanti, you are a rock star!!! |

A 1.2 actually nearer 1.6 but we won't quibble. Swim out to first buoy in eventful. Turn right go round headland 50 to second buoy 1-2m waves rolling me over couldnt see the buoy!! Scary just dug deeper than I've ever dug didn't see a life saver or I may have put my hand up decided to count 100 strokes then allowed 20 breaststroke to sight felt better the buoy just seemed to get further away! Once past that one and past the headland the swim to next buoy was easier the sun shone I could see the shore. Turned to swim to shore thinking waves would push me in but tide was going out so every break sucked us back out. An arduous event happy to have done it delighted and proud came 16th in my age group out of 20 I'm taking too 20 finish!Oh forgot my ear plugs hold on tight!! Good job Jo! In my book, that's big water! |

Blech. I wanted to run. Next time I won't be stupid and sign up for the competitive walk. Only thing that got me to the finish line was the promise of homemade Christmas cookies and hot coffee. Cold, raining, sleet, snow....WET!!! Love the atmosphere. 1500 people, including fasties from the Hansons Distance Project, wearing shorts and singlets in 30 degree weather. Very festive. Wouldn't be the same if the weather were ever nice. Great job getting it done, regardless! |
