Keep our little puggy Stevie in your thoughts today. She's got a lump on her chest that has really ballooned up in the last couple of days. She's been miserable as it's really uncomfortable for her to sleep which is her second favorite thing to do (eating comes in at #1 of course.) She's also been a little wheezy and her breathing seems labored.

She got initial xrays and the really good news is that it looks like the lump and the breathing are separate as opposed to the lumps actually having spread into her lungs, it looks like it is just fluid. She may just have some mild pneumonia. But we have a specialist looking at them and they also did some bloodwork to hopefully find out more about the lump. I may just be an abscess.

Ah, but what does a REAL Manatee wear under their tu-tu?  (I'm a MacDonald on the other side of my family from McManus, so you miiiight not want me at work in a tutu!).

Pug hugs, as well (we just found a lump on our older lab and had a very stressful week a little bit ago).  Wishing the best...

ha!  I accidentally wore flip flops to the office about a week ago.  That is becoming kinda common place for me these days!!  I can't wear them with the tutu cuz everyone knows that you have to wear either ballet shoes or running shoes with a tutu.  There is a rule about that somewhere!

Hey Mary...or any other folks familiar with Colorado, specifically Colorado Springs:

Do I need to rent a car to get from the airport out to Manitou Springs (west CO springs, near Garden of the Gods) It's kind of hard to tell what the public transportation is like.

I can't even figure out if there is a public bus that actually goes to the ariport.

Yeah on the rare occasions that I use the light rail in Denver for races I make sure my hotel is right next to the rail station but Colorado Springs doesn't even have that option

Thanks for the link.  We are thinking of dropping DirecTV and going with SlingTV.  We made a list of channels/programs that we watch and it's actually pretty short. We just don't get that much value out of the zillions of channels that we get.  The big hang up has been sports.  Mostly cycling (TdF mostly but also Giro) but also hockey.

It's better in Denver but not nearly up to the standards of Seattle or other major cities.  You'll love Manitou Springs.  It's a funky little town with some neat galleries and restaurants. You'll want a car to go to GOTG, and maybe the U.S. Olympic Training Center in CO Springs.  While in Manitou, check out the Manitou Incline.  It's got "Salty" written all over it.  It's a trail run that climbs 2,000 ft. in 3.7 miles.

Are you flying into CO Springs or Denver?

Hey manatees, wow, a lot went on since I last checked in!  I won't even attempt to acknowledge all the news for fear of missing out on someone's comments but know I am celebrating your high points/accomlishments with you and sympathizing with the bad.

The good:  Dad's been doing really good this week.  We hung out a little bit last night and it was so good to see him feeling decent and relatively strong and relatively pain-free.  He made slacker brother come over and pick up the pieces of the solar light that broke.  *snicker* and he (Dad) told me he called him since he (brother) doesn't do much to help out with him.

The less-than-good: got the verdict on my tooth yesterday - it will need to be extracted.  The endodontist slapped another temp filling on it since she had to destroy the excellent one the dentist applied on Wed (I was sad to see it go, it was really nice).  This morning I was having a really good morning and had a really good evening last night only for it to come falling down.  I flossed my teeth this morning and half the new temp filling came out, as did quite a few not-nice words.  I was livid.  The dang thing didn't even last 24 hours.  I'm so glad I (and the insurance co) paid so much money for the specialist yesterday. (sarcasm)  I will call them today and let them know what happened, but I kind of hate to because it will surely mean more missed work and I've already missed about a day total this week with snow and dental visits. (eye roll and sigh)  The saga continues.  Hey, the bright side is it doesn't hurt since the nerve is dead.

Good for your dad! On feeling decent and calling your brother

Good grief...what do you use for floss???? Bummer, though. Will you have to go the weekend like this?

That's a great deal.  I was able to see some of the old UCI races on youtube but if this includes USN too that would add another dimension of distraction entertainment to my trainer sessions.  These cyclocross races are a lot of fun to watch.

Not only is he a great athlete, he is a great mentor. I have been in his mentor group for the last two rounds and he inspires and encourages our entire group daily.
