Yay! for lots of good things happening...

Kate-love the critter pics (we found a Leopard G&%ko a couple of weeks ago. Kids are loving feeding time.) Good to hear you're new plan is on track!

Jonathan- my DH was EOD and got a good chuckle at your "fireworks". Nice job on the run...not burning up and everything

TX Jon- NEW BIKE!!!

Salty- so awesome. You know we'll all be cheering on Friday

Kirsten- wind. rain. (sleet? snow?) You're so ready!

Stacey- crap weekends are bound to happen, but...it's already Wednesday for you!

TJ- good luck tonight. I hope this coaching works out

Matt- do such weekends happen to you often? (Monica...pay attention to his answer)

Miss Yanti- 10k swim?!?...I'd WANT to drown. hehe

I couldn't do catch up drills for the life of me. Left arm constantly dropped as I felt like I was sinking. This little baton is shoulder-width wide to help me reach  without crossing over and it totally gave me the brain "override" to reach and glide. Going to use again today. Very helpful $2...I can use as a fetch stick for the dogs, threaten children, beat off competitors.

something like this-

Stevey, we are eagerly awaiting your TdF report.  I can't believe that you weren't able to pull that spectator/photographer out of the way!  Stoopid kryptonite, blocking your superpowers!

ETA: The link is only discusses Stage 3 (Monday).  Not a spoiler for Stage 4.

I know this stuff happens at every major tour (probably every bike race for that matter) but SERIOUSLY PEOPLE!!!!!! How stoopid  can you be?!?!?!?! This Tour has been a wild one so far (no spoilers) and I've enjoyed the beauty of the English countryside.

Oooh, oooh, I know, I know!!  (and only because we use something similar - well, not really, but kinda)  Erin's stick is to help with stroke timing, think catch-up drill, passing the pipe off hand to hand after the other recovers, always keeping it ahead of you.

At masters we use pieces of extra plastic from the pool gutter, which is actually strangely more hydrodynamic than when using a smooth cylinder despite its squared edges, protrusions for screws, indentations, etc.

By the way, Mary and I are meeting up for a run in Dayton tonight, which is pretty cool.  Manatee meet-ups are always a good thing!

Monkeys!

Well how are we all?

Went for a swim squad session last night with lovely Coach Johnny.

An epiphany.

3 years ago when I started at his squad I was a left side breather. He wasn't happy with my body position so he made me change to the right side and it fixed up that issue.

Fast forward 3 years and though it's comfortable he said my arms are never deep enough, elbow never high enough etc etc. Last night we did a warm up set of 100m breathe good side, 100m breather bad side, 100m bilateral. Johnny happened to see me breathing bad side (the left used to be good side) He said Jojo that's perfect. Keep breathing that side all night.

Who knows what shifted but yes, breathing left from now on.

Apart from that it was 2750m of torture.

At times I wanted to ... and to drown other people hey, nice stick! I really do like it for catch-up that won't exacerbate a cross-over. Might try sliding the stick into the thumb/pointerfinger groove so you can keep a flat hand forward instead of fist.

NOBODY PLEASE DIE/DROWN OF SHOCK.

My Bali Ocean Swim 10K race report is up.

So, I'm only what, maybe 13 RRs behind now? :P

So much awesome crammed into one RR…  It's almost too much to handle!

OK - even a RR about a 10k swim (whatever the actual was, it's a 10k swim!) is badazzed enough to get me to stop sitting on my decidedly-not-at-the-moment-bad-azz and go for a ride!  Motivation!

Survived the pain train last night. Held on for about 20 miles then blew up at mile 30 but did it with a huge smile. Just something about being in a pace-line riding at 25 mph that is just amazing.

Speaking of riding, if you are not watching/streaming today's TdF stage and you want it to be a surprise when you watch it tonight, be extra diligent on your Total News Blackout.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
