Rain this morning so we swapped days. 8:30 masters swim, 3300 followed by a 5 miler on the treadmill. Checking out the calf. Seems to be ok. 60 mile bike tomorrow

You guys are a bunch of freaks and I mean that in the nicest way possible.  haha  Yanti that's nuts.  You must have some kind of ninja mind strength.  I don't even sit in my nice leather office chair for 8hrs at a clip without having to move.  Come to think of it, I don't even lay down in my bed for 8hrs most of the time!  Never mind ride a bike.

What's on tap this weekend?

Got a 12 mile run in today.  First time running that far in a long time.  I felt fine but started to get a little thirsty or feel like I needed a Gu or something at the end.  I was going to ride, but it was chilly riding weather and perfect running weather so just went out and made up my route as I went.  Would like to get my run fitness up a little more and maybe run a half marathon in February for a little motivation.

Awesome RunJay! When I stopped running for distance and started running by time a few years ago I found it a lot easier to just run and make up the route as a go - I do a lot of exploring on my runs now - not sure why that is, but I love runs like that.

Rode 62 this morning harder than I intended to; first two hours were supposed to be in base and the last only a little harder. I did stay in base for this first hour or so, but the next couple of weeks are going to be jammed tight with work (seems to be going around, Fred) and it was such a beautiful day I just wanted to RIDE! Lots of wind, but temps were great mid 40s to start then mid 50s by the end. Swim and base run tomorrow.

Very cool on the work front Fred.  Hopefully the work life balance stabilizes soon for you though.

Just got notice to attend my oath ceremony on the 29th of this month.  At 8AM.  Ugh.  I wonder if they care if I nap during the ceremony?  Actually, once I started the process towards citizenship the whole thing has gone very smooth and very quickly.  The last two meetings I had down there were actually complete before my scheduled time.  So no complaints I guess.

Congrats. I just started my paperwork. I am applying for dual citizenship so it might take longer. I've had a green card for 17 years so it's definitely time! The last appt was quick and easy at a satellite office.

What is your citizenship now?  Mine is Canadian and I just get to keep it.  Mine moved along in about 6 months so hopefully they keep up that kind of time frame and you'll be done before you know it.

I'm British (Scottish) so it should be straight forward. Married to the same guy for 17 years. I'm an only child so it's important for me to be able to keep my British citizenship incase I need to go home for an extended period of time

Looks like everyone is having a good weekend so far.

I went for a 6.5k run this afternoon, first 3k with my wife and one of the dogs and then the rest by myself while they walked.  Tonight was a tough interval set on the trainer.  Good times!

1:20 run tomorrow.

Can I still rejoin the group? Now that IMFL is over there is actually time to read and post on BT.

Of course!  The price of readmission is one race report.  Tongue out

That works! Quick race report: 12:39 finishing time. 1:11 PR.

Garmin ripped off of my arm during first lap of the swim. This was probably the most brutal swim that I've ever been in. I had a cheap Timex watch on that I used for the rest of the day. It wasn't ideal but it was better than nothing at all.

Lost 14 minutes (data from Power Meter) on the bike due to bike mechanical. The wheel cover came loose during the ride. On Friday we noticed that the screws were missing off of the wheel cover. All but 3 of the screws came off of the wheelbuilder cover during bike transport or on the practice ride. Normally taping the wheel cover would have probably worked at any other race. However we didn't account for the fog and humidity in addition to the 6 mile bumpy road from hell on the course. Once I hit the bumpy road the wheel cover came off. I had to stop several times to re tape the cover back on. Finally ended up taping the wheel cover on up onto the rim and riding with the back brake almost totally open to prevent rubbing. I also had problems mentally focusing on hitting the wattage after dealing with the mechanical.

Around mile 8 on the run it felt like the ground was moving under my feet..Which wasn't the best sign. Went into damage control mode and started taking in broth and coke and walking every aid station from there on out. I was a bit spacey on the run...

Other than the few issues on the course it was a good race. We've got some work to do to prepare for next year. I may be posting a swim video on here in a few days.

Glad to be back with the group!

That totally bites that you lost the Garmin on the swim.  Looks like you overcame a lot to a pretty successful finish though

Had a pretty good ride today.  Kind of cruised it a little bit in the middle because it started to pour, but finished feeling pretty strong as compared to the previous few weeks.  Getting on my bike once or twice during the weekdays for some intervals has really helped.

10 mile turkey trot this morning for me. I didn't run this week because I was recovering from the 25k last Saturday. I did reasonably well (for me). I lost a little time from the race last year, but I'm not going to obsess about it -- we're talking 60-90 seconds, so less than 10 seconds per mile.

The best news about the race was that my 12 and 6 year old did the 2 mile trot with my mom (72). My 12 year old came in at 19:2x and my mom and 6 year old finished in 38:xx. This was the first race my six year old completed without having to be carried part of the way. :-) I'm a proud mom.

Friends,

I've loved being in the group.  Even in the short time that I've been with you, I've learned a lot and gotten some great advice and support., but personal (family) stuff has occurred this weekend (alas, while I've been 2000+ miles away) and I'm gong to have to take a hiatus from BT to attend to (much) more important things.  It isn't an immediate family (wife and kids) thing, but pretty close.  I don't regret making my actual, real life identity pretty clear on the site, but the result is that I cannot explain beyond that without compromising the privacy of others.  Let's suffice it to say that I need to help take care of very young children (in addition to my own), and this is going to require most of my attention.

I hope to check back in from time to time, but I cannot really, reasonably, say that I will continue to be a 'member' of the group, because there's no way I can keep up with what's going on (even if you didn't move near the speed of light!).  Best to you all.  Train well and race strong!

Michael, I wish you all the best.  As great BT'er as you are, I'm sure your contributions to BT don't even compare to what you contribute to your family, community, and those around you personally.
