Wouldn't it be hilarious if we bumped every single thread bryan has started.  Flood the whole first page of tri talk with his threads...LOL.

Great minds and all, that was exactly the same thought I had when I saw it. But I figured I would be banned...

mndymond - 2012-07-02 2:24 PM Had a good week last week! Completed a 1800m swim, 30k ride and 4 mile run yesterday. Not crazy, but the most I have done in a day involving all 3 sports since last Sept. Woke up at 515 to get another 4 miles in this morning. New plan is going well so far, forcing me to focus on quality. Winding down my day by watching today's TdF stage!

Sounds great...especially the winding down watching the tour part.

nah, I am holding out for the next time an argument starts about the difference between "laps" and "lengths." And don't even get me started on the finer distinctions between a "cool down" and a "warm down."

And awesome job on getting wound back up again, BTW. I have found that having a coach helps a lot with my work schedule that changes from day-to-day. I hope you have the same experience with yours.

In all honesty, all of the threads bryan started or played a major role in are better than the crap that's in the forums now.  You would think we would be doing BT a favor by bumping such good info (especially the IMSG Q&A).  But as Fred mentiond, BT rather discuss what a no drop ride is, whether we should wear panties, if we should shower, tatoos, or if the 17 hour IM rule is "fair".  Because discussing those topics is what really makes you faster.

Haha. But there is a difference between a lap and a length! briderdt gave my answer RE: cycling semantics anyways. I hope I have a good experience too. So far, so good!

I think my foray back into the main forums is over before it really started as it is really a poor place IME. The usual posters are now piling on with the best of them in showing their 'moral outrage' at the poor treatment the op got from the group leader. IME BT is what people put into it and in this thread it seems to be specializing in 'bold Internet (anonymous) outrage' at the injustices of some unknown group ride leader. While I suspect there is more to the story, it's not worth mine, or for that fact anyone's time to speculate. Definitely a different forum than when I joined in 2006, but I think the powers that be at BT are actually completely ok with it all. Pretty much most of the people I like to interact with are on my friends list anyway so public forums don't add a lot for me.

i have been completely avoiding them, i get all I need here.

I checked out that thread a bit, read a few responses and decided to completely avoid it.  Personally i think the group lead was being fair, they did not drop her from what i understood and asked that she become more proficient at cycling before her next attempt. I did not think that was unreasonable, at some point you need a cutoff, and if she is inconveniencing an entire ride because her lack of ability, she needs to improve and come back. I remember when i first started with our "A" group, i got dropped every ride, and had to learn the routes by myself to get home. It made me work harder and become better, and that is not a bad thing. If i decided to quit, well that would be on me.

So i took all the aero equipment off my kestrel and made it a drop bar aero roadie, i did a ride this AM on it, and wow, what a good road bike it makes. It is a little heavy, but it climbed sooooo well i was really impressed and so was my ride partner. The geometry is a bit steep, i think the seat tube is 74 or 75*, but it tracks and handles well. I will keep it like this and add some clip ons for TT's and Tri's.

Anyone wanna buy a lightly used size 56 Litespeed??  LOLOLOLOL

Good morning!

So, i am training away.  I can't believe we are getting down the crunch time before Ironman! eeeks! I am alternating between super excited and very nervous.  But in all seriousness it's going well.  It's actually seeming possible and I am feeling good. I'll be slow but i have reasonable expectations for the day.

This weekend I have a half-iron tune-up race so hopefully that's another good confidence booster. It's a mass start so that will be perfect for working out my swim related jitters. Thankfully, I also start the next round of coached swim group - there was a two week gap between sessions and my swim volume was horrible!

Meh, I live in Los Angeles, millions of skinny roadies.  I have resigned myself to never getting a KOM outside of my driveway.

Bumping a post from yesterday, 910 came in yesterday, gonna use it for today's run.  Any tips and tricks over the 305 I should be aware of, or is it basically the same with more swim features?

Rudy - you can say that again. And again. And again.

Looks like you just demoralized a whole bunch of folks, Fred. I am with Chris though - Strava just makes me look stupid...

Group ride today...bring your kleenex!!!

What is everyone doing for the 4th?  Likely just going to grill some turkey burgers...nothing special.  But will definately ride in the morning.  Not sure how far, or how much climbing though.

Jen - are you racing Peterborough?  Should be a good tune up for IMMT.  Best of luck.

Chris - i don't have one, so no pointers from me, but I would be interested in hearing what data folks have their workout screens set to. I have a 310xt that I use for tri races and ultra running and a 610 that I use for run training and racing up to marathon distance.

On both I have 3 screens: one shows overall time, HR, pace (I know, it is useless) and distance. On the second screen I have lap time, HR, pace, and lap distance. On the third screen I have the time of day, just because I got tired of trying to explain to folks that stopped me mid-workout to ask what time it is that I didn't know because this $400 computer on my wrist was not smart enough to tell me...
