Have you seen the course map here? The Kemah bridge is now part of the run instead of the bike.....twice....at the end of the 10k...... Hill training is going to be a priority for me.....using local parking garages as my only option. pffffffttttt. you flatlanders and your overpasses. ;-) |

Hill training is going to be a priority for me.....using local parking garages as my only option. Gateway Oly is the plan anyway. I took a look at the course - well, won't that course be interesting! I have some hills around so I will have to throw them into the mix. Call me odd, but I would rather a hill than ride a hill... That bike up and over was brutal last year... |

And if you're not, take a look at your volume from '10 and give us one positive about it!!!! This answer is easy for me. in '09 it took me 1 hour to swim on average 1,838 yards. In '10, I swam 32% faster or 2,422 yards in that same hour. Not speedy by a long shot for some in our group, but really, really pleased with that statistic. |

No racing just eating for me. Funny though, how is it possible that I didn't work out once last week and ate all kinds of crap and I weighed myself this morning and I am about 5 pounds lighter than I was before I got sick. All I did was not workout, sleep drink and eat. |

As for volume, I'm way up on the bike this year and a bit short on the run by about 100 miles and just a bit over on the swim, which is funny because it seems like I hardly swam at all this year. |

My numbers are pretty similiar to Tony's. Gee did we both have the same coach. LOL! I'd say the most positive thing for me is quality over quantity workouts. Plus for those number lovers - I managed to add an average of 1.5 hrs per week to training my routine. '09 374 hrs. of s/b/r & strength '10 435 hrs. (projecting about 445 hrs.) of s/b/r & strength And what's up w/ 23 hrs. of strength training for both years. That is a funny number to arrive at over the course of 2 years. |

Well, swim will never be bigger than EVER, but bigger than ever since college! Proud of the year, and proud of and impressed by all of the dedication in this group. Super-duper inspiring!!! Now I need some more training to continue managing my kids! I think I need Christmas to get here more than they do!! I don't remember them ever being as excited as they are this year. Maybe it's because this is one of the few years we haven't had a huge weather event to distract us (flood, windstorm, snowstorm)... |

Who's up for one this weekend??? And if you're not, take a look at your volume from '10 and give us one positive about it!!!! No racing for me either.... still trying to figure out a way to get my sets in while outta town for the Holidays. (Spin bike at the Y....here I come! Or Suzy....coming over to use the compu-trainer on the RU...wouldn't that be a sight! What size is that thing like a 40 cm?) For those doing the Jingle Bell Jog (or whatever).... REPRESENT!! I am happy with my volume, but 2010 really taught me about "quality" workouts instead of just putting in the time. With the help of this MG, EN, the donks, Tri-Wi, etc. I really learned that it really matters how you complete each workout and how they stack on top of and affect each other. Speed is not cheap or easy and several trips into the Hurt Locker reminded me of that!! Hope everybody has safe travels and a great Holiday Season!! Dino |

I think our family is now clear of the virus that has kept this family with 102 temps for the past 9 days...no fun! I didn't get it until day 6, but got wiped out for 3 days. But we are all "normal" now so all is good. 2010 was not a good tri/training year for me. But I am looking ahead with positive thoughts to 2011 and beyond (just saw Toy Story 3). Positive thought....I really enjoy training and know I am very lucky to be able to do this. |
