 For friday, will have to stop by after the CAF luncheon wich starts at 1200. But definitively interested on Saturday nights dinner with everyone. Probably would bring parents with me also. Need to talk to them, so nothing solid yet.

Not a race specific question, but was wondering what the event organizers do with the water bottles from the events? This is the first race I've done where (at least from race reports) you drop your old bottles and get new ones on the bike course.

I'm pretty sure they all get thrown away/recycle-thrown-away.

Saturday: Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 62. 

They just hand out standard 1/2 liter bottled waters and gatorade in the standard plastic container.  These won't be replacement cycling water bottles.  So if you have a favorite cycling water bottle, best not to take it out on the course, or else if you don't care about time then you can stop, fill it, and chuck the bottle that they hand out at the aid station.  If you have an aero bottle out front then you can use the handouts to fill that and save your preferred bottle for whatever liquid nutrition you use or as backup water.

I usually keep mine behind me and use theirs to replenish the front holder. Works perfect anyway.

I just want to wish everyone a great race, and hopefully see you all at the finish.

FYI*** it won't be the big "official" 70.3 party that's on the porch, though you can try sneaking in there for free beer. We'll be the party inside.

For those wondering, on the run course, FYI, we will be running on the sand. It's official; we asked the race officials.

Just out of curiosity, how far is the bit on the sand?  And is that at the beginning and end of the run?  Sounds like a pain to me, as I don't relish the thought of getting sand in my shoes prior to 13.1.

1/4 mi each way/begining and end each lap / x2 on pain!

Water was 59 today, it did not seem that cold, no numb feet or face, felt good actually!

Made it into Oceanside today. Quick test swim by the pier to see how the full suit and hood will work and I think I'll survive. Waves sure beat me up, though.

Planning on the Saturday 7pm dinner meeting if all goes well, there will be 4 of us. Me, spouse, and two young kids.

Sand running doesn't sound good! Going to try to get to the start area tomorrow morning before we head out to the San Diego zoo just to check it out.

Couple questions...

I see in the gear stickers that there are ones for each bag and ones labeled special needs. I guess those are just standard templates for the full IM's and won't be ones we're using? 

Stickers are also for swim to bike and bike to run bags. If I've just got one backpack that I'm lugging everything in I don't need those? They didn't include any bags in the check-in kit so not sure how those work out. I know from volunteering at IMAZ everything had seperate bags for areas. I'm not planning on hitting the changing tents, just wet suit off, extra shirt on for the bike and no changes for the run.  

And, just so I don't look like a total goof Saturday morning, when you're wearing a neoprene hood the race cap goes over that right? Tested it in the water today and worked well, assume that's the way it goes.

You'll have all your stuff together at your rack spot.  You are correct about the stickers being for full IM.  I don't recall seeing any changing tents for this event, either.  Whatever works for you on the cap, nobody's going to care one way or another unless it's the only thing you're wearing, and probably not even then.

Hi fellow BTers. I am volunteering this year. I will be at the bike water station handing out water bottles, power bars, bananas and what ever else they have. I will be wearing my BT shirt and will cheer you all on.

 Good luck...be strong and just remember to remind yourself to 'suck it up buttercup'

let the training take over...stick to the plan... yell out to me if you can, I will take care of you...special attention to BT`ers...

Put it on at the hotel (or for you, home!) and make sure it's well rubbed into the skin ... that way it has a good chance to soak in before body marking, and you won't mess it up after.

If you have fair skin, I'd definitely consider reapplying in T2--the run can get warm.

Somebody help me here! My energy is becoming over abundant, and really ready for tomorow. Trying to just relax. Enjoy lunch today, Kevin and I have to be at the CAF luncheon.  Should be great to see those guys.

Just got email that HIM CA is trying to screw CAF by telling us that we can't race in the CAF wave if we want to qualify and place in age group awards. Means we don't get AGE group ranking points for racing in CAF wave. I think this is #%#$%$#. Got to make a decision on what to do today!

That's messed up. Especially this late in the game.
