I left my kids playing in the pool with gpa while I went for a 80°/60% humidity run. In the words of Jeff Foxworthy, "Here's your sign."

But there's a rainbow, almost literally, although this story makes me tearful from both sad and glad ...

My friend Giles passed away a couple weeks ago; young (early 30s), dapper, clever, funny, generous ... he was a piglet of mine once. Totally unexpected heart attack and as many of you know, you're likelier to die from them if young.

His kitties came to their new home at the Funny Farm today (in the most capable hands of a very happy Hobbit Maid now).

Okay, the universe is in serious need of some anti-diarrheal medication, Yanti.  It's just been shyting on you WAY too much.  The kitty girls are adorable!!  I think Ryder came around to get you softened up and ready to take in a cat or two.  It's funny; I'd actually had that thought when that all happened, but just dismissed it.  And now here you are, Cat Lady Extraordinaire!  (Of course, "Extraordinaire" goes without saying; you've been that all along )

This is wonderful!  Thanks for the giggles.  One of my dogs and the cat play a game every night and it never fails to make me laugh.  Life would be so boring without them!

Do you have to have a master's degree in origami or what?

I haven't read much in here today, just made a post or two. Will catch up reading tomorrow. I just have to say that it would've been harder to have a better day. Highlights: Taylor turned 7 and lost his first tooth during his birthday dinner.

Or what

You loosen two bolts. One lets you fold the bike in half so the two wheels are stacked. The other lets you put the handlebars flat against them. They and part of the frame extend about half the handlebar length beyond the wheels--but the wheels are smaller than MTB, so they'd fit into an MTB or a road tyre wheelbag.

Seatpost is on a quick release.

For those of you with trucks, what kind of rack system do you have? I have a homemade one but I'm ready for something more stable. I was considering Yakima's Bike Bar or BedRock

What size wheels?  Smaller than 650s?  The wheels look larger than the ones on a Bike Friday (http://www.bikefriday.com/bicycles).  Do you ship to the US?

Ack!  Now you made me use the Google.  What model?  I see the Espresso has 26" wheels.  Oh, it looks like you have the IOS.  24" wheels.

Super cute folded pic

I'm pretty sure Polygon ships to the States and they stock a wide variety of foldies. Not sure how much it'd cost for me to ship one myself. You can get a small but perfectly serviceable foldie here for $65. If you want one that you can get pretty close to a long-distance riding position in (like for commuting across town, 30mi rides, hills, etc.) they'll cost a bit more

I had one of those moments ... Mutti and I went back to the clinic today for follow-up and wound care. I asked my doc (he's been our family doc for over 30 years, knows me VERY well), "So, I guess swim training is out for a while?"

He really looked like he wanted to give me a sign. I get that look from just about every doctor I see. Hm.

He said to Mutti, "Where did you get this one?" (meaning me)

She answered, "Stanford University Hospital. That's where they were selling her. I felt sorry for her!"

In good news, we're doing better here. My right hand is pretty swollen and can't bend the index or middle finger much, can't really grasp things well but can type.

Winston's owner came and got him. It was extremely difficult for us all. He's definitely still in denial, as I said, he's deep in the if-onlys, you shoulda, you shouldn'ta ... I was very tender but clear with him and knew not to take it personally. He's in an awful, awful place, regardless of how he got there.

I think I might know where you got your sense of humor!    Glad you and Mutti are doing better and so sorry all of you - including Winston and his person - are having to deal with this.  Hope you'll be able to get back to the Funny Farm soon to get some furry lovin' from your critters.

I am not a truck guy, sorry. However, I do use a rack that hangs from the rear tire of my Jeep, kinda like this:

If I had my druthers, I'd add a hitch receiver to the Jeep and get a more stable solution, like this (I like the flexibility of this type):

Confession time!

I gave Tom a really hard time about double booking himself.  I said something about using a newfangled device called a calendar

However....

While I have not double booked myself, I did sign up for an open water swim.  It's in Wrightsville Beach which is far but not really a problem.  I mean, I've done 10ks in that area before and round tripped it and I've done day trips to the beach.  It's all good, right?  Then I realized that to make the swim start and check in and stuff I'd need to leave the house at like 4am.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
