Originally posted by QueenZipp Got my jogo on today. A little yoga and a swim.

Effortless I hope!

Master's class.  Overall a decent workout but she doesn't give me much feedback on my stroke mechanics or where I can improve things.  I like her workouts better than the other Master class I attend--but the other coach at least gives feedback (inconsistently)  This is what I get for not spending the money on a real swim coach.  Bits and pieces from the web, Masters and a stroke that looks "okay" but could most definitely improve.

Here's how my squad went - first I'm in lane 7 of 8 (8 being slowest) there are five of us, three of us clearly faster.  Coach clears a lane for us.  Two of us move over and have a lane just for us we decided no chatting no resting just go go go.

Constant feed back to me from the coach - he said I need you to go deeper with the hands Jojo, I always think I am then he says something that just clicked, he said I want you to raise your elbow and feel like your hand enters the water right in front of your head.  It will feel wrong but believe me it will be in the right spot.

It was a lightbulb moment.  My catch and pull was just amazingly different.

Thanks coach Johnny

That is exactly the feedback I want.  Send me a Coach Johnny, please...then the super Piglet Mr Effortless Swimming.  (sheesh I listen to his videos cause I dig the Aussie accent)

I bet we could get at least 3 people who'd want to be coached by him between me, you and Kristen.  The Aussie accent should get a few more to the pool.

I'll come up from Raleigh for that!

Judi and Jen are both in VA, right?  I'm in PA and would be willing to travel for a hawt Aussie training sesh on how to swim better.  Virginia isn't too bad of a drive.  Jo, send over your piglet!!

Manatee Meeting in Richmond!!!

Sounds great to me!

For a hawt Aussie that will teach me to swim... I'd get there from Albuquerque!!!!!!!!!
I'm up for that!!

Y'know, I was thinking about Jogo's newfound RAAAR and quite a few of us ... while being benevolent to an ahole is by no means the priority ... I think being benevolent to the bene people, like ourselves, is

... you don't do anyone any favors by letting them be an ahole. You can be compassionate about the fact that they may be effed up, going through shyte, whatever, but we do the individual and the world no good by putting up with any part of their ahole-ishness.

Many of the best and hardest lessons I learned were when people put their foot down and expressed (in whatever manner) that something I did or was doing was unacceptable. Maybe not right away, and maybe only after repeated patterns, but it made me change ... it made me replace crappy behavior with constructive action. Much better for everyone all around.

Originally posted by kgore First, I cooked some pieces of bacon, then removed the bacon and browned some chicken thighs in the bacon-y goodness. After the thighs were sufficiently crispy, I got rid of the grease and put the thighs back in the pan, plus 1 cup of chicken broth and simmered it for 30 minutes. --I then added the bacon pieces back to the pan. Along with that, we had a Cesar salad on the side. SO GOOD.

Surprised   That sounds awesome!  And it was with salad, so it's good for you.  Laughing

Powered by squirrels is bad enough, but hibernating? Well that's just unbearable!

That was very cool, TJ, thanks for posting!!  I was so busy people-watching I was almost too distracted to see you guys.  I'm wondering why the guy in the gorilla suit needed balloons to further help him stand out from the crowd?!

And I think you should buy the race pic if you can get one with the chick in the sports bra edited out.  His first 10K + you doing something fun and active together = keeper.  OK, so maybe I get a little extra sentimental since I never had the opportunity to do such things with my parents...parent/child combos at races always get me a little choked up.

The finisher shute is always fun to watch. There are a LOT of costumes at the BB. As for the picture, I did get it. It's electronic so it's easy enough to crop out sport bra chica. I love the picture. The smile on my face and the determination on his is... priceless!

Oh no!  :-/  Take care of yourself.

Don't put me on the DL just yet :-) We'll see how it goes tonight. I have a 5k with DS1 on Sunday!

The rule is that you can't be on the DL and on the Racers list at the same time so you'll need to pick one Cool

Speaking of DL Racers, any updates from Darren?

JOGO 9/9
All done. Swim cut short to 400m because water temp was 51.8F. Didn't feel too bad to be honest. Managed to hobble around on the run.

I have to add, the times on the RR are guesses until official ones tomorrow. I know the run time is good because I used my garmin. I also used my garmin for the swim but it didn't pick it up too good, but my middle two 100m laps were 1:56-8

So I'm entered into the 5km run at Cairns next Friday, very excited.

If you're into podcasts give MaccaUncensored's latest offering a listen - good Aussie accents and funny.  No. 11 I think The times they are a changin.  Nice to hear Macca say he handled the descents in barcelona like a muppet.  He gives me hope.

Swim for the Long Course ITU this weekend has been cancelled so it's a duathlon - Terenzo should smoke this race.

As part of my JoGo I had a rest day - rest is a very important part of training and I neglect it.  So yesterday I did it - that's actually a huge achievement for me.  I feel better physically for it, but emotionally I find it tough and miss those endorphins!

It is a busy one to be sure. I guess that'll prep me for Rock N Roll Denver ;-)

Jogo done. Bike ride in 28mph winds. I channelled my inner Felecia :-)

I hate not being able to check in during the day, I miss so much!!

Joanne, I LOVE that you are kicking and taking names.  Keep it up!!

TJ, I hope your knee is better.  I think you posted that you rode tonight, so it must be alright.

Darren, awesome job on the race, gimpy indeed!!

I am going to struggle for the month of June...I had very little work for May/June at the beginning of May.  Now, I have too much!!  I am working 6 days a week for a couple of weeks, and 50+ hours on the 'regular' weeks.  I am going to have to really work at getting my training in and getting enough sleep...  My jogo is partially done this AM with a run; I will be doing some stretching/strength this evening to complete.  Have a great Friday, all!!

Where are you all? I like that it's still semi-light at 9:00 here. I can go out for a run at 8:00 without a head lamp. :-)

I got my 1 hour of yoga at the giraffe deck at work (nothing beats doing the Downward Dog pose and hearing a giraffe peeing in the background...both surreal and unbelievable--really, how can one pee SO FREAKIN' MUCH!?!?!?) Then I went for a 42 minute run...it was slow. You can pick 'em as to which was the Jogo for today.
