It would make me so happy if I had little ipod speakers for my bike and had that thingy that let you swim with your ipod. I would never get off my bike or out of the pool. Love that I at least get music while running:

Some recent downloads:

 Cheerleaders by King of Prussia

Misadventures of the Campaign kids by King of Prussia

Sunshine by Matt Costa

Lolita by Throw me the Statue

And not new but new to itunes and has been hard to find until now MacDougal Blues by Kevn Kinney.  Good stuff. If you like that kind of thing. Good for listening to when trail running.

Joan As Policewoman.

Get the new one. incredible. Best album I've bought in a decade. If you like talented musicians, meaningful lyrics, and a good white girl singing with her soul.

Lately I have been going back to the college rock bands ... particularly early Wide Spread Panic (Space Wrangler, Traveling Light, Porch Song).

Not sure if that qualifies - but it is a nice change of pace.

Your top 3 running songs?

Ugh, that is too hard. I have so many fav's for different types of runs.

I ran a hard run the other day to these tracks:

Stigmata by Ministry

Blue Monday version by Orgy but the New Order one is about 7 minutes and I often use that one to beat on the treadmill.

Kissing Families by Silver Sun Pick ups

Time Bomb by Rancid

Green Cell Grey by Ned's Atomic Dustbin

The Bad Touch by the Bloodhound Gang (my husband cannot stop making fun of me for downloading that one but it is really good to run to.)

You got YR. Cherry Bomb by Spoon

Hey Nice Shot Man by Filter

I love WP, Travelling light is one of my favorite songs. I love to put them on when I'm driving for a long time.

As far as current Indie rock here are some that I like:

My Morning Jacket (already been mentioned but they are good)

Vampire Weekend (starting to play more mainstream now)

The White Stripes (another mainstream-ish band)

The Shins

Death Cab for Cutie

Paramore

Ludo ('Love me Dead' is my new fav)

Spoon

We have Sirius satelite radio and the station #26, Left of Center, is good for college rock/indie stuff. We listen to it alot at the shop.

Green Cell Grey by Ned's Atomic Dustbin

Heh. I have Grey Cell Green on my Ipod and figured I was the only one. Great motivational song.

There is a band called A House, album called 'on our big fat merry go round'. Very Indie, but old school like Ned's Atomic Dustbin. Best song on the referenced album is Call Me Blue, but the whole album is excellent. You can sample it on Itunes I believe. Another good one from Ned's off the same album is 'kill your television'.

Not indie, but a must have for any ipod while going hard is a techno song called Samplitude from the album 'Tunnel Trance Force Vol. 39'. It will make you run faster by 1 min per mile plus.. guaranteed. Heh. Also can be sampled on Itunes.. although I got it from allofmp3 back in the day.

I have a ton of techno recommendations, but this thread is Indie.. so.. back on topic.

Beck's latest, 'Modern Guilt', drinks quite deeply of neo-psychedelia and what I've listened to so far, I really like..Hard to believe 'Odelay' is more than ten years ago.

I'll second Vampire Weekend and Spoon.  I'm also enjoying Muse and The Arcade Fire.  There's a great Muse live set floating around out there that my hubby downloaded.  It rocks.

This is an older thread but I remembered it and have been listening to Indie rock A LOT lately so thought I'd throw out some other recommendations......

-Band of Horses, "No One's Gonna Love You"

-Tegan and Sara, "The Con"

-Editors, "Munich"

-She and Him, all of it, they're great <--- New favorite by far.

-M.I.A., no particular song, very rock/electronic with some folksey elements thrown in

-Barcelona, "It's about time"

-The Ting Tings, they're just addictive and fun.

so many to choose from, hmmmmm.

1. YMCA - Village people
2. Don't Cry - Boy George
3. Bang-A-Bomarang - ABBA

Just kidding.

1. Dirty Little Secrete - All American Rejects
2. Typical - Mutemath
3. Face Down - Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

Really into Paramore lately, so I am sure they will be in the top three list soon.

Happy listening and training!!
