Veteran 230 Leesburg, VA | Subject: RE: Giant Acorn It just took my registration and my credit card payment? We are talking about the Richmond sprint. Sorry kind of a thread hijack. The Acorn is definitely full. I emailed about a wait list but I haven't heard anything. Actually since I just entered Richmond I will not wait list the Acorn even if it has one. |

New user 8 | Subject: Pre-Race Orientation? Does any one know if they will be holdiong any pre-race orientation activities for this race? The Set up event site only lists packet pick up. This will be my first tri so I am thinking the more info I have, the more I can relax and not worry I will be commiting some horrific newbie faux pas. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated. Goodness gracious! I am excited for this race! Cheers! Patrick |

Any info would be GREATLY appreciated. Goodness gracious! I am excited for this race! Cheers! Patrick Most races will have a pre-race meeting on the day of the race, usually after the transition area has closed and before the race starts. Assuming that packet pickup is at the race site, definitely take the time to find where your bike will be racked, note where swim in, bike out, bike in, and run out are. Walk through the motions to get an idea of where you will be going and what you'll be doing. Later, as you are lying awake, unable to sleep, you'll be able to visualize what you'll be doing. At packet pickup you might try telling them that it's your first race and your concerns and maybe they'll be able to address them. Best of luck. Enjoy yourself! Extreme Veteran 590 Northern Virginia | Subject: Giant Acorn Bike Route on Veloroutes I made a route of the Bike Course at VeloRoutes.com, using the course map from SetupEvents: http://veloroutes.org/bikemaps/?route=21949 No guarantee as to accuracy, but at least now there is a nice elevation profile. |

Patrick I got this earlier today in my email: Giant Acorn Triathlon - Event Details Good morning and welcome to the 2008 Giant Acorn Triathlon. This email is to highlight a few important tid bits of information regarding the event. Please review the Event Details, Course Maps, and the website as well read the rest of this email.VTS Logo Highlights: Start Time: 10AM (10/4) Parking: Most parking is inside the race site. If you park in here plan on staying until 12:30 (parking area B). If you need to leave earlier than this park on the gravel road leading to the dam (parking area A). Please let late arriving spectators know that they will have to walk into the race site from the dam as once the race starts the entrance will be shut down. Packet Pick Up: Friday from 3-7PM at the race site Saturday from 8-9:30AM at the event site Registrations: This event is closed, no registrations will be accepted. Swim Course: This is a 750 meter course around the peninsula. A water temperature will be posted tonight (Thursday PM). Bike Course: This is 12 mile bike course. We will have volunteers, police and arrows at all the turns. Run Course: This is a 5K run course. This course is open to traffic, be alert. PRE RACE MEETING & SWIM CLINIC: There will be an open water swim clinic at 6:30PM on Friday at the beach. This will be preceded by a pre-race meeting and course overview at 6PM. There will be a few brief announcements made at 9:45AM race morning at Swim Start. Please plan on attending this meeting. EVENT DETAILS: The official event details are posted on the event website and are inserted in your event packet. Please read through this information - it will probably answer most of the questions you may have. USAT ANNUAL MEMBERS: If you are a USAT annual member, you are required to show a valid USAT membership card at packet pick-up. Failure to do so will result in having to pay the USAT "one-day" fee of $10. So if you are a USAT member, you MUST bring your card or pay $10. PHOTO ID REQUIRED: Please remember that you will be required to show a photo ID in order to pick up your event packet. This is a USA Triathlon requirement. It's very simple; no photo ID - no event. Every participant will be required to pick up his/her own event packet. This includes all relay team members. You cannot bring another persons photo ID to get their packet. This defeats the purpose of the photo ID. USAT RULES: USAT Rules will be enforced. Click HERE to check out the most commonly violated ones so you don't end up on the pink sheet. CHAMPIONCHIP TIMING: All participants will pick up their ChampionChip timing chip on event morning at the chip pick up tent during the times listed for packet pick up. This will be located at the finish line location. You must have your run number with you in order to pick up your timing chip (showing your race # foils the dyslexics among us). BODY MARKING: All athletes must be bodymarked. Bodymarkers will be located outside the transition area. TRANSITION AREA: Participants only in the transition area. The transition area will close 15 minutes prior to the event. We will be checking you and your bikes as you leave transition to make sure you have the correct bike. AWARDS: The awards presentation will begin around 1PM. If you are unable to stay for the awards presentation, please make arrangements to have someone pick up your award because awards will not be mailed out. Missing Wetsuits/Gear: Should you leave your wetsuit or other gear there will be a $25 handling charge to get it back to you. Please label your gear as this greatly facilitates us getting it back to you. Have Fun, Race Hard, Stay Cool! This event couldn't be done without the support of the following folks: VTS Logo Final Kick -The Official Triathlon Retailer of the Virginia Triathlon Series. Sportslegalforms.com-The nation's first and leading provider of legal forms for sports and activity professionals, and the active individual. Active Chiropractic-The Official Chiropractic partner of the VTS. Hammer Nutrition-Proud Partner of all Set Up Events Greg Hawkins - Set Up Events PS - Please note that we are at the race site and do not have access to email. So if you email us we won't get the email until Tuesday. If you have questions, bring them to the race with you. |

Expert 663 Williamsburg, VA | Subject: RE: Giant Acorn SKIPPY what a beautiful day for yesterdays race. I'm sure you did great and you couldn't have asked for a better day. Plus I'm sure after yesterday you ar hooked on the sport. This was my second acorn race and loved them both. Set-Up does a wonderful job and I thought the stew was really good as well. To top it off I bettered my time by a minute from last year. |
