I've never heard of this.  Then there's this thread today.  Oooooo.  Spooky.

I've got a pot of water boiling as I write this.  Will I go green or Earl Grey?  Will I use milk or not?  Somebody pick for me.

Earl grey.  Add the milk and tea bag to the mug, then pour in the water.

What is wrong with black tea or green tea with nothing in it? It ruins the flavor!

I got a Starbucks card for Christmas and am now addicted to their London Fogs:  Earl Grey tea with steamed nonfat milk.  Yum!!

No, no, no... First pour some hot water in the cup (or mug if you must), heat it up, then put the tea bag in the cup and pour hot water. 5 min later when it's brewed you can add some milk. Sheesh.

Could be a euphemism....  But it's not.

The brits do it.  What say you?

As for me, I usually don't, but it tastes pretty good when I remember to use it.

Uh no, the Brits don't do cream in their tea...As the son of a brit I can say "only heathens would do this" I've never yet met an english person that puts cream in their tea! black tea = milk (and maybe sugar) or lemon green, herbal (including that nancy "earl grey" tea) just plain!

Sorry, MILK.

Yes, I was referring to milk as well, not cream

And my coffee.  I got sick of pouring out 1/4 of a starbucks, so now I order a grande in a venti (or a "marge" as they call it at peet's) and practically fill the rest with milk.  Voila!

An actual Brit chiming in... for me, always milk in tea.

I can say with 100% certainty that I've never, ever made a cup of tea without adding milk in my 37 years.

I was born and raised in Ireland. The children drink tea with milk, or cream, the adults drink it without (for the most part). You build towards no milk (or sugar).

Another British guy here living in Wisconsin.

Yes milk in tea! very weird to drink black tea without milk.

Tea is a pain in the butt in the states. Most 'British Blends' taste nothing like real British tea...too weak..and everytime i even ask for milk in my tea i get the weird look.

I found its a little better in Canada. But LOVE Jaffa Cakes! but dont forget the choc covered HOB NOBS ever.

Heard many good things about Jaffa Cakes. Haven't had a chance to try. Love HOB NOBS. Love most things McVitie's anyway. I have a pack of dark chocolate covered digestive biscuits in my drawer. Yum.

Wow, until I read this thread, it never even occured to me that it might be weird to put milk in my tea (I'm Dutch, but that's close enough to the Brits, right?).
