Pre-race routine:

Woke up at about 2:30. Putzed around the room, got everything together. Tore everything apart and put it back together again. ACK! My first HIM. I believe I was the only one in a BT top. I did get reminded that I suck at running.

WOOHOOO!! Got to meet some great BT people in person and found out they're just as interesting in real life as they are here.
Event warmup:

HA! I swam a couple hundred yards and played around in the lake
Swim
  • 37m 48s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

Found myself a set of feet and stuck with them the whole way. I think I was without feet to draft off of for about two buoys while I was finding the guy again.
What would you do differently?:

Not a darned thing. That was a great swim. I'm completely happy with the way it went.
Transition 1
  • 04m
Comments:

I'm digging wetsuit strippers. They tell you "lay down there" and grab and yank and you're out and have an inside-out wetsuit to take with you.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Yeah, 4 minutes but was worth it.
Bike
  • 3h 20m 45s
  • 56 miles
  • 16.74 mile/hr
Comments:

Holy COW! Okay, Holy MOOSE! I'll take "hills that will kill you" for 56, Alex. I told the Devil Hill lady that Max was waiting for her answer to if she would marry him. She said she remembered him and wondered if he was here this time.

I had a blast. I stopped for a potty break on both loops if only to just stand up for a couple minutes. I needed them.
What would you do differently?:

ride about twice as much, even slowly, just ride. First one so I'm not all that upset about it. I enjoyed the bike.
Transition 2
  • 04m 23s
Comments:

Mav told me to stop the tea party and get running. Well, I got my feet chamois creamed and shoes on and got going.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. No blisters, no chamois burn, that was okay.
Run
  • 2h 59m 21s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 13m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Have I mentioned I SUCK at running? I do. I cramped up so badly that I couldn't run downhill without my quads locking up and uphill was okay for about 100 yards before my calves locked up. Wow, that HURT.

What would you do differently?:

Get more mileage under my feets. That's about the only thing that's going to do some good.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around. Got the free massage thingie and drank a lot of water with some recoverite.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Have I mentioned I can't run worth a damn?

Event comments:

I loved this race. Yeah, even the sufferfest called the run. It was well done. I'm glad to have met some wonderful people and had a great time with dinner with everyone.

Okay, I heard the "Go BT" two or three times when I was coming into transition during various times. I tried to give a thumb's up but don't know how successful I was
