You need to be able to see the traffic coming directly at you, in case you need to take evasive action. Cars are going to be approaching you EXTREMELY fast, and may not see you at all. I do all my training on county roads and would NEVER run with traffic. Drivers just aren't paying attention sometimes. 95% of cars will move completely to the other side of the road when they see me.
