I'll be there with a cooler of beer, so find me after the race

I'm going to take it easy on this one...no chance to improve my overall rank (stuck at 13) although I suppose defending my rank might be necessary if this is someone's 5th race.

Anyway, haven't trained much since Augusta, what about you Harold?

Certainly cold in the mornings, so that wetsuit will be handy.

Couldn't find anyone after the race, although I think I saw halfpint on the sand at the swim start...was that you? I wanted to ask, but didn't want to look like an idiot if it wasn't lol.

That hike from the parking to the race site meant I had to enjoy the beer in the field...my wife wasn't there to bring it

That swim broke me off...in fact I got into T1 and just sat there for about 4 minutes to get my legs back. Felt like the measurement was off, but could have been the residual Augusta effect.

On a side note, I've learned never to be as foolhardy as to schedule an international 2 weeks after a HIM.

Can't wait to see the official times because if my wave started on time, I did the swim in about 30 mins, which is 5 mins slower than last year and I had a better swim this year (i.e., I am pretty sure it was waaay long if it took me as long as I thought). That run from swim to T1 is a tough little bugger! The whole friggin race was hard!

Wow, that's fast! I think I did it in the high 30's, but I tried to take it easy. You're right about that hill and the race...what's with the international distance as opposed to Olympic?

Eric Bean won in 2:15! He won Duke 1/2 2 weeks ago as well. He is an AMAZING cyclist! I think my swim was my best. I caught people from the both the wave before mine and the wave before that! On the other side, my back tightened up at the end of the bike, and a had tension in my shoulders and neck from trying to keep it together. My run SUCKED!!!.

That's awesome!  Eric and I used to swim together back when I was still in High School.  He's getting ready for IM AZ, and shooting to go back to Kona next year.

Great job everybody!

RE swim times: When the official results are posted, compare swim times of the top of the field to same from last year. That'll be a good judge if it was a long swim. I have learned to not worry about what my watch says when I come out of the water. If my swim time was bad, it's most likely due to the course being measured long. They don't measure it that accurately!

Well if that's the case, I couldn't see the look in your eyes, those tinted goggles made you look like the man of steel.

It seems to be that the swim course was 3min slower this year over last if you compare times of people who did it both years.
That makes my swim seem faster if I subtract 3 min. (the only good thing about my race and even that is just speculation Cry.

I was a spectator that day but here is something to consider concerning the swim.  I've heard lots of people speculating about it being longer than 1500 yds.  One thing a guy told me was that he lived on the lake and drove his boat over that morning.  Said there was a strong wind pushing accross the lake creating a strong current for the long stretch back to shore = long swim times.  Secondly, I heard the reason for the beach start was due to the exact measurement of the swim to accurately total 1500.   But no matter if it was longer than 1500yds or if it was the wind and difficult swimming conditions, I heard most of the swimmers and spectators comment that the swim times were longer than usual, so don't get down on yourselves.

That was a tough race. The bike mount/dismount area was way too tight for that many people - very scary to watch.  And there were some serious climbs on that run. You guys did great!  Super proud of everyone!
