first 6 months i had free membership, then went to silver for the logs & plans, now i am gold and have to say its worth it.  coach and program support is pretty nice.

some people prefer to build their own and that is ok but being only 1 yr in the sport this gives me alot of info.  gold membership with Garmin watch is absolutely amazing.  being able to have everything in 1 log is priceless.

I have the bronze membership, mainly for the Garmin uploading feature and the equipment tracker.  My husband does my plans, so I don't use the free ones for myself.  I do, however, use the couch to 5K plan for my running peeps.

Never regretted joining.  Not once.

Nope.  I like it for the training log features, like uploading my own custom plans and graphing.   I also like to support the site - considering I use up so much of their bandwith reading and posting...

never once....i like the plans available in the Silver level and like others have stated, i am happy to pay to support the site alone.  The advice i have been personally been given as well as just reading the various posts are worth it alone.

I had a bronze membership for a while right after they implemented Garmin uploads. I found the that overall, the site was confusing and hard to use. I was getting much better data with less work by using standalone software. (SportTracks)

That being said, I think the community is what really drives the site. The forums have been an incredible resource for learning about the sport.

I got the same level of coaching from my previous coach - and that priviledge cost me around 6 times as much - and he didn't give me pretty graphs either.

Thinking of upgrading to gold and upgrading from polar to garmin at present to get the full use out of it.

I keep renewing so I can have that cool little silver medal under my name.  But seriously, I love my silver membership.  I can upload a IM plan and adjust according to my needs.  The silver plans are much more detailed and involved than I would do on my own.  Not having to type in Garmin data is awesome.

I'm about to get a membership. I'm stuck between the bronze and silver. What do you all recommend? Also, is it just a one time charge of the price listed? or is it a monthly charge of the price listed?

Thanks

I started in bronze a couple of years ago, went to Silver and I upgraded to Gold on my last renew.  I will definitely go back to Silver when it becomes time again becasue I have felt no real benefit from the Gold plan at all.  I like the silver because the plans are more detailed.  If I were to make a suggestion it would be to have two levels for the plans that are bronze/free as sometimes I want to use a plan that is a broinze/free and I get just the bare bones even though I am paying for silver (or gold right now).  If that could be changed/corrected it would be awesome.

I love my silver membership and access to all the plans.  I have used them pretty much exclusively and they have gotten me to many PR's and through my first (and hopefully second) IM.

I upgraded to Silver in January.  I had plenty of training books and stuff, but I felt that the amount of effort these guys put into the site I wanted to give something back.  That being said, I like the training plans I've gotten a lot.  And the Garmin plug-in is huge for me!

That's an annual fee.

I started at bronze, went up to silver for more plans, tried gold (and benefitted from it) last summer and am back to silver because I really don't have many questions for the coaches.  I really benefitted from the nutrition membership too and highly recommend it.

I have never had a paid membership, so for all I know I could be missing out on lots of great stuff, but I don't plan on paying for membership.

I don't use any gadgets besides a stop watch for my training, so I don't think I'd benefit a whole lot from whatever logging software stuff there is, and I don't need to pay to find a training plan put together by someone who doesn't even know me.  It's more fun to make my own plan.  There's plenty of advice available for free on this site, other websites, and also non-computer sources (like books or other people I know).  Triathlon is expensive enough as it is.  If you are trying to do triathlon on the cheap, don't think a membership is essential.

Having said that, I don't mean to knock those of you who do find a benefit from a paid membership or just feel like you want to donate your money to keep up a great site like this.  That's great.

I know what it takes to run a site like this and even if I never used the training plans and/or didn't have a garmin to upload from I would still be a paid member. There's way too much behind the scenes that people take for granted and someone's got to pay for it. I figure I get good stuff out of it so I can pay my way.

That said, I do use the training plans and do keep my garmin stuff uploaded to my training calendar so it's even more worth the money.
