I ran 12k this morning in this super technical bra top that's supposed to instantly wick away every drop of sweat. That sucker was dripping wet by the time I got done. I guess for evaporation to occur there has to be some moisture-carrying capacity left in the air. Welcome to summer in Iowa.

The heat doesn't bother me nor the humidity. I'm the opposite. I grew up north in Pennsylvania where we have our share of winters. Now that I live in Atlanta, I can't stand the cold. When it's 40 degrees I'm bundled up like Randy in a Christmas Story. Of course I still have to laugh when it does flurry down here, you can't buy a loaf of bread anywhere because everyone treats it as a major snowstorm.

TH3_FRB - 2005-06-13 7:38 AM Well, summer is still officially 8 days away but it's been sooooo hot here the past few days. Now I'm sure all you Arizona and Texas peoples are gonna tell me to suck it up but come on...90+ in Virginia!!!

You won't hear "suck it up buttercup" from this desert lizard! When the humidity gets to 20% here I get uncomfortable, cranky, nasty and whiny. I have no idea how people can live day to day with super high humidity let alone train in it. I don't even care for our "dry" heat. I still try to get up and out by 6am because I am a heat whimpy. It just beats on you burning your skin, dehydrating you before you even realize it.

You can keep your humidity all to yourself and I will give you giant props big time for getting out there and training in it, hell for just living in it. Oh, that sunburn.... OUCHY, that's impressive... I don't think I have every gotten that burned and I used to be out in the sun here all the time without sunscreen! Don't do that again!!!!!!!!

Ya know, my OVEN has "dry heat", but I don't want to live there either. Give me a little humidity any day. At least the temps usually stay 2 digit here

SUCK IT UP!  Okay, one of the Texans had to say it!

Just kidding.  I think most of the southern half of the US is really hot right now.  It definitely make summer training miserable!  I've been living in Texas for two years now and STILL haven't figured out how to train in the nastiness....

I feel it and I love it - nothing better that a good hot long run and then jumping in the pool when I get home!!!! I even find myself speeding up near the end, in anticipation of the ending the torture!!!!(I'm in charge of cleaning the filters and chlorine levels, so I can get away with it).Dennis

I'm also from Houston, but currently enjoying the cool winter of New Zealand. Unfortunately it rains every other day =\, but soon enough I'll be back for 95 degrees and 95% humidity. Just walking to the end of the block I get soaked in sweat.

just wait my KF buddy...  pretty soon it's going to be 110 at 4:00 in the afternoon and the "cool" of the day will be about 80 in your neck of the woods

110F? Never! The usual summer high is 95 degrees. This isn't Redding where it gets 110F. Most of the time its 85 in the heat of the day. The best training time is near dusk or early morning, but I've done a few runs in the 90's last year.

I live in Eilat, Israel which is just 3k north of the Egyptian border.  June-Mid-September tepmps between 90-110+.  But the humididty is very low.  Needless to say I workout either very early or at night.

Nope   its winter here,  I want summer already and we've only had a few days of cold weather here.  But its been non stop raining for ages.  Which is very unusual for Perth.  apparently its been the wettest start to the year for about 30 years or something.

I've been thinking about hibernating for the winter!

I'll take the heat over cold weather training and racing anytime. I can always drink more or take a dip in the pool at the end.

I missed most of it because I was out of the country but when I landed in Montreal on Satruday and it was 84F and humid out, I felt like I was being dragged down by a big wet blanket.  Up here in the land of ice and snow we usually get temperatures more in the mid-sixties at this time of year and it has been in the mid to upper eighties.  I did run yesterday and bike and did not find it difficult.  The only problems is the incredible amount of perspiration that I generate.  I am constantly showering,  changing my clothes and sitting in front of the fan to stay cool and dry.

I have to congratulate my brother JP (iceT2) for doing his first ever triathlon last Saturday in this overbearing heat.  You're doing great ... for an old guy!!!!  :-)
