Comments: Let's face it...I just suck at open water swimming! Maybe it's the wetsuit but I had the same problem as last year. First couple hundred yards are ok, taking it nice and easy, and then all of a sudden I just can't breathe. It feels like the wetsuit is cutting off my breathing or something. It fits excellent so it's not that...just the feeling of the suit itself. Oh well...more practice, practice, practice with the suit and maybe I'll get used to it. What would you do differently?: Get used to the wetsuit. Transition 1
Comments: There's about a 50 yard uphill run from the water to T1. It was a bit longer than last year too...had to cross the road to get to the bikes. Wetsuit got stuck on my heels momentarily but not too bad. What would you do differently?: Run up the hill a bit faster. Was trying to get my legs under me though so it wasn't too bad. Bike
Comments: The ride was ok. Had a pretty steady headwind for a good share of the ride, along with a fairly hard rain at times too. At least the rain wasn't too cold. Felt ok today. What would you do differently?: Not much. Transition 2
Comments: Had a bit of a mishap in T2...nearly knocked over the whole rack when I tried to rack my bike! Felt like a moron. Felt like I took too long getting my running shoes on. What would you do differently?: Get my shoes on quicker. Run
Comments: Felt really strong on the run. This was one of the best 5K's I've ever run. Don't know why but I'll take it! Legs felt good right from the start and I just kept it going. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Cheered a couple of my friends in to the finish, ate watermelon and oranges and picked up my third in AG trophy! What limited your ability to perform faster: Stupid swim...again. Have to do more OW swims in the wetsuit to get used to it I guess. Event comments: I was really happy with placing third in my AG, as it was just straight placing and no Clydesdale division. Finished over 4 minutes faster than last year on this course so that was good. There were some serious athletes here today, including a pro from Sweden who's here to do IMCDA next weekend. I didn't catch his name but he was FAST! Another fun Tri day! Last updated: 2005-06-17 12:00 AM

Nothing out of the ordinary. At a late pancake breakfast, relaxed, and got to the race about an hour before start time.
Did a 3 mile easy ride to warm up then swam about 100 yards before the swim start.
