TriBee - 2010-11-11 6:50 PM Thanks to all the local folks, especially Brian, for showing us around on the swim this morning. Very helpful!

Its actually Martin tribee lol but I will take Brian if you like

It was Martin.  I was the tender foot walking with you across the road!  Martin who came in from South Africa for the race! LOL! He told a group of triathletes from Maryland when we were going around the table tonight at the athlete's dinner he was from South Africa which is correct.  Should have seen the look on their faces when they found out a guy from South Africa came to Wilmington to do this race!

Right on! Thank you so very much, Martin, for coordinating the swim and for all of the pointers. It was also very nice to meet the rest of you! Hubby and I had a terrific day today from start to finish. Best wishes to all! ETA: for those only watching this thread, I just posted my take on the swim this AM over on the B2B iron thread.

oops, sorry Martin. I'm awful with names. Brian is the last one I spoke with so I guess that name stuck!

Thanks again, it was really helpful to hear from you what you knew about the swim, transition, etc.

I had a blast at this race and I hope that you did too!

Sherry, it was great to meet you and Scott yesterday morning.  I hope that you had a great race!

Mona, I'm sorry that I didn't see you to wish you luck in person.  I see that you did great!  I hope that the race met your expectations.

I saw an accident on Blueberry Road when I was coming back on the bike.  It looks like a cyclist a little in front of me (after the turnaround) went down.  I saw the tandem stopped the help and then I saw an ambulance coming.  Does anyone know what happened?  I hope that they are OK.  My husband said that he heard that someone was hit by a car???  Not sure what the real story is here.

Did anyone else see that oversized trucks trying to make a delivery to the battleship while the full participants were coming in on the bike and the half participants were finishing?  What a mess!  Someone really dropped the ball there (I'm thinking it was the battleship folks since the race clearly had a contract to use the site for the weekend.)

I found the course to be well stocked and the support to be good -- to be honest, there were a lot more spectators than I expected.  I had fun fun fun!

I thought the race was great. I can see why it is ranked 2nd in the nation. Overall well organized volunteers were great. I saw a problem with cars coming in the battleship, they really should enforce closing the park there was a car coming out blocking the path for runners coming in.

I agree, however, some of those cars were volunteers coming and vendors (for example, DH saw the pizza vendor kept on bringing in more pizza).

Also, DH had a sherpa -- I mean Buddy -- pass.  He took my bike back to the car.  No one asked to see the pass.  Not a problem since it was him taking my bike but...

Again, these are nitpicks compared with real problems like out of water at rest stops.  I'm not complaining at all.  I had a great time and I totally plan to be back next year!

I have been looking for information about the accident also.  I passed an ambulance loading a biker on a stretcher.  I don't know for sure...but there were police there and a car stopped...so it appeared that the car had hit the bike.

The trucks that were delivering the beams was totally unexpected according to the race director who spoke about it at the cruise this morning

Oh the rumor control that was going on from the Director was those were supposed to have been delivered 10 YEARS ago and have had production issues since.

What a great race. Given the difficulty involved with staging a race of this magnitude I thought the race director and staff did a great job. The volunteers were outstanding as well. This race's ranking is well deserved in my opinion.

What an awesome race, this was my first year of tris and this was my favorite race by far.  I'll be back next year.

I went to Fat Tony's to see if I could catch you guys, but I got there rather late.  I was with my friend (this was his first tri and did the half), his wife and kid and my wife and daughter.  My daughter (21 mo) was the one screaming the entire dinner if you guys were still around.

Great job everyone!!  Have a great offseason.

The guy sitting in front of me on the bus into town said that his teamate was hit by a car and had to spend the night in the hospital. I'm assuming that is the accident you're talking about.

A truck ran me off the road on 141? during my return trip because he was trying to pass the cyclists coming the other way. Almost hit me head on. Lucklily one of us was paying attention.

Question: Was there a finisher shirt for the Half?  I saw them for the Full and was wondering since I didn't get one. (I did the Half)

Actually there was - when I came in I was told there are shirts for the half people ( I did the half) but when I later came back to get one the lady told me they ran out of small ones and if I want a small one I should just take a full shirt.

Oh, well.  Bummer.  I really wanted one and kind of looked around.  Clearly I didn't look hard enough!  :-/

Congrats to everybody!! I hope you all had as much fun as me!

I must say I was skeptical if the race would really be as good as they kept saying - BUT I think they did an amazing job! The race director was all over and everywhere, the volunteers were not only cheering you on but did an amazing job giving you what you needed when you needed it, quick!
The people in the two towns and out on the bike course were great ( I heard of some exceptions but luckily didn't personally experience any issues).

What I liked best about the event?

I was in Louisville, KY for the IM in august - as a spectator - and everything was super corporate and every athlete was just a number.
At the B2B each and every athlete mattered! Considering this was only the third year of the event - WAY TO GO!!

I'll be there next year - just have to decide if for the half or this time the full ;-)

I would send an e-mail to setup-events - maybe you can still get one and have it shipped if you pay for the shipping?

I really wanted to buy one of those hoodies but didn't get a chance on Saturday and Sunday they weren't there anymore - I will ask them about that too.
