I am not but I always enjoy seeing what's going on and who's excited to get out there!

So, are you racing this weekend?

First tri of the year for me too...Hawk Island sprint tri in Lansing, MI.  This will be my 3rd year doing the race and this year I plan on breaking 1:20:00 (even on a borrowed bike)!

I can't wait...we have 21 BTers doing the race.

First Oly of the year!  Buffalo Triathlon in Buffalo, MN.  Bike course looks kind of flat, but with 1500 entries, it will be crowded.  Should be a good time.  This starts my 3 weeks/3 olys schedule.  Whoot!

Good luck. I just moved to KS from Madison, and my regular training grounds were either Battlefield National Park in Vicksburg or the Natchez Trace in Ridgeland.

For me, it'll be the KS 70.3. According to Lisa, I will be one of those 86 BTers that is registered.

Blalock Lakes Sprint Duathlon in Newnan, GA for me.

Just switched to duathlons this season, so we'll see how it goes.  I can tell you nothing made me happier than walking away from packet pick up yesterday without a swim cap and swim wave assignment.

Now must just keep the nerves at bay!  Good luck to all that are racing.

First tri ever, a sprint. Blue Lake in Oregon. http://www.racecenter.com/bluelake/Weather has caused lots of issues. All the grassy fields that have been used for parking in the past are so soggy that organizers are scrambling to figure out where to have people park and how to get them to the race site.

2nd tri of the year tomorrow (third ever).  I'm excited, but also bummed that I hurt myself last weekend and have not been able to swim, bike or run all week.  It may turn into a float, ride, walk... but I think I'll be OK by tomorrow (some kind of muscle strain in my side/abs area).

i was talking to my 8yo daughter (who is doing her 2nd tri on Sunday) about it while we were doing some transition practice in the backyard this week.

Me:  My side really hurts, I don't know if I'll be able to run at all during my race.

Her:  That's OK dad, you'll still finish ahead of all the people that don't even start!

smart kid. Smile

Same situation here. First tri ever tomorrow. The weather here in the PNW has been terrible the last few weeks. Water temp is currently in the upper 50's. Air temp will be in the 40's/50's at race time. At least the forecast calls for sun. After the spring we had here, I'll take it.

LOL!  You should have her read BT some more.  Then her response probably would have been "HTFU, Buttercup!"  (just kidding -- I hope you recover on time.  And nice job getting your child to tri!)

Best of luck to everyone.  A special shout-out to those of you doing your first tri this weekend.  My first is coming up in three weeks, so I'll be reading your race reports.  Have fun!

Good luck from a fellow PNW'er.  I raced last weekend (1st tri) and had similar conditions.  I hope you get just enough of a break in the weather to enjoy the race without any weather issues.

I think next year I'll start my tri season a bit later which will give me more time to train for longer distances and better weather come race day.
