A bunch of us got together at Chatfield last Saturday, and we had such a great time, how about we do it again?

We could do Chatfield again or, we could head east and tri the Aurora Res.

I would suggest a swim and a bike or a swim and run.

Awwww. You had a party without me!!!! What's up with that?

Anyway, I'd love to do that this weekend but I'm riding the 1/2IM course at Aurora on Saturday. Any takers?  Starting at 7 a.m. to avoid the heat. Also doing a short run afterwards.  O. PM me if you want to go.

Count me in!!

Oh, wait - forgot we have company staying at our house on Saturday.  I could make it if it's at Chatfield, but probably not if it's at Aurora - they might wonder where I am if I disappear for more than a couple of hours

I could make it to this one if it's early enough.

Well, Stacers was a great leader last time and I'm not sure about a decent bike route at the Aurora Reservoir. How about we plan on being in the water at Chatfield by 8 am?

I'll let that suggestion simmer for a while and see what everone says

Hey all, I'm in for training. I just got the Rattlesnake e-mail re training expo on Saturday, but I think I would rather train at Chatfield. Or do you think we will actually train at Aurora? It sounded more like a training/racing lecture to me (rather than actual training), but maybe I misunderstood.

I can make 8:00 am on Saturday, or earlier if it helps everyone else. I'm going to swim and cycle, but I'm skipping the run this week.

I was thinking of doing some training before the expo, I think it starts at 10:00. If the training was at Aurora, I could do both. I was just looking to have my cake and eat it too.

My mistake, it starts at 8 and lasts till 10:30. Guess I have to choose....

I'm unfortunately not going to be able to make it to this one. Instead of trying to stay afloat in the res, I'll be drowning in schoolwork, followed by barley. I'm so on top of my social life that I forgot a friend's getting married this weekend and other friends are coming in from out of town! Oops! Have a good time out there!

Well, sounds like alot of folks around here do a bunch of triathlon stuff, so there may not be a anyone around.

I guess I'll have to take Ovetta up on her offer. Now that I think about it, I think I already told her I'd ride w/ her when I met her up at the 5430 Tri a couple weeks ago. I think she said it would be about 52 miles.

Looks like my group training Saturday has potentially turned into a lone training session (awww, poor lonely me). I'm still headed down there for a swim and ride if anyone wants to join. I need to start my swim at 8:00 to get training done and get started on some other personal stuff. I might swim the pond lap twice if anyone is interested in a l-o-n-g swim on Saturday.

I'm actually starting a bit earlier tomorrow if anyone was thinking of joining. I'll be getting in the water at 7:30 and starting a ride with a non-BT'er at 8:45.

Enjoy the swim!! If for some unknown reason, Ovetta can't make it to Aurora for a bike ride, I'll see ya at Chatfield. Slim chance though.

Hey, I hope nobody showed up on Saturday morning because I was very late. It was nice though, and I'm game for meeting up again soon. I can't do this Saturday, but I would be good for the 20th.

Hey, can anyone tell me about swimming at Chatfield? Other than park entrance fees is there a charge? Do you have to be with a group? How's the water? Is a wetsuit necessary? I ride out their every weekend, but never stop to swim...

Hey, sorry it took so long to respond, and maybe you already got a response, but here's the scoop:

Swimming at Chatfield is in the gravel pond, which is basically in the southwest corner of the reservoir, and across the main road through the park. Colorado Masters Swimming Association (COMSA) runs swimming at the gravel pond under special permission from the park. There are hours on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, but you should check the COMSA site for more specifics. Technically, you're supposed to join COMSA to swim at the gravel pond, and an annual membership is $35. However, you can sort of casually jump in the water without checking in, and no one seems to care much. Wetsuit is optional, and I would say the water is about 70. Most people wear them, but I don't know if that relates more to temp or just training in a wetsuit. I really like swimming there, it breaks up the monotony of the pool, and of course it's great practice.
