Jen Vogel finished Friday's Florida Double Iron in 25:36.52 - 1st woman, 4th overall. The only split I've seen so far was her swim - 2:36.55. Amazing performance by this Georgia athlete.

Her official time was 25:06 after the adjustments. It's one of the top 3 fastest times by a women ever at that distance.

Ever - as in the world?

What were her averages for each discipline?  Asking cause I know you're her coach Brett.  You should be very proud of her and yourself.

Thanks Lisa, I am very proud of her. It was a big step into the unknown for both of us and she did a great job.

Her time is one of the top 3-4 ever (in the world or anywhere else) by a female. The world record is somewhere around the ~22:30 mark but it was done many years ago. Evidently the swim was in a river downstream with the current so all of the swim times were ridiculous. There aren't any official splits out there so we don't know for sure what each was, just what we hear from people that have been around.

Her swim was 2:40 (~2:00/100m), bike was ~18-19 per 7 mile lap (she was consistantly 22:30-24:00 for every lap on the bike), and the run was ~9:00-9:30 mile. That is where she really put the hurting on some people and ran down all but 4 guys.

Yes - the fastest time in the world was by Tina Bischoff, 21 hrs 51 min, in 1994 in Huntsville AL. The swim is in a river that is controlled by locks. That year, the locks people had them opened up, unbeknown to the race organizers. They usually got down to the river and someone would throw a stick in to see how fast the water moved, usually it was a very gentle slow current. 1994 the stick whooshed away. So she did a 1:16 4.8 mile swim, the fastest that day was 1:14. Everyone was under 2 hours, even the normal 4 hour swimmers.

Second fastest time is Astrid Benohr of Germany. She did a 23:45 back in 1992.

Tina's time is listed as worlds fastest, but I am on the IUTA (International Ultra Triathlon Assc) board and when I started checking into this, I found out about the swim that Tina did and we are in the process of removing her time as the fastest due to the river current. It will be listed but as unofficial. Astrid's will be list as official.

Just to answer a few quesitons people were posting.

That's great! Just one hour slower than my IMCdA time. There was a person of the same name one year ahead of me in medical school. I wonder if it's the same person?
