Subject: Who's got a Guru?

I'm mere inches away from pulling the trigger on a Cron'Alu.

Please talk me out of it,  or into it as the case may be.

Why this bike?

  1. My LBS with whom I have cultivated a good relationship (read...I get discounts) is starting to sell them. I would likely be the first sale of a Guru for his shop.
  2. I can be reasonably certain that the bike will fit like a glove (custom geometry based on my latest fitting) something no other bike that I have found will do for no extra cost. LBS who did my fitting is a Serrotta certified fit guy.
  3. I hear great things about the quality of the frames and the company
  4. I really want a new tri-bike. I think it may be the difference between me reaching a goal I have and not.

Guru is a Canadian company, and a lot of people I train with have them.  I have heard no complaints whatsoever, one of my buddies recently did IM Florida on hers.  My LBS is quite particular about what brands they sell, and one is Guru.

That's my 2 cents...good luck!!

Had my Chron Alu for 1.5 years.  I like it, good quality frame, don't think this bike is holding me back.

Get it, support your LBS, ride hard.

Small company, hand-built frames, custom geometry at no additional cost, carbon, aluminum, and titanium material options...hard to argue with that.  Guru is one of the few brands that my local tri shop sells...along with Cervelo, Softride, and QR.

Himself has one.  Very nice bike!!!  I just bought a Felt S32 at the end of last season and love it, but the Guru has got some serious appeal to it.  If I'd had more $, I would have bought the Guru in a heartbeat!  You can't get a custom bike at a more reasonable price.

I have the Guru Trilite and love it. I have not had it that long so I only have a few outdoor rides with it. Everything about Guru is quality and it rides unreal. I can't speak for the Crono but the Trilite is a sweet ride.

Last April I ordered a Guru New Steel, I previously had a 10 year old hybrid so any bike was an improvement.  I am extremely happy with it!

When I'm ready to purchase a tri bike (the New Steel is a road bike) I will for sure look at the Guru again.  I like the fact that the company has custom made bikes for the same price as stock bikes.

Heck yeah, if you can get a good deal on a custom made bike GO FOR IT!!!  And don't forget to show us pictures when you get it.  Laughing

And pay the extra to get your own custom paint job!

It's true, I ride a Guru. I'd never really rode a road bike before, but I love it. I test rode a few bikes when I was shopping including Felts & a Cervelo Dual, but the Guru fit me the best. Guru is known for their frames and welds so even if you start with low end components like me you can upgrade and get a pretty smokin' bike. It's the only event where I seem to be able to hold my own & I give most of the credit to the bike for that. Or it could just be the fact that its RED. And Guru does a kick-ass paint job, especially if you're ordering a custom jobbie & can decide on your own scheme.

The Guru Cron'alu is an excellent choice for a tri bike.  I was hard pressed to decide between this and the P2SL.  Both are excellent choices but I wound up buying the Cervélo because it was less expensive.  Here is a good write up on the Guru: http://www.bikesportmichigan.com/reviews/cron.shtml

I have a Guru TriLite that I bought just after last season. Can't say a bad thing about it. I have just over 400 miles on it and haven't raced on it yet, but it's comfortable and has performed well in all aspects. I rode Felts, QRs, Cervelo, and Specialized - probably about 8 (maybe?) different tri-bikes before deciding on the TriLite and don't regret my decision for a second; wouldn't have any hesitation in going back and getting another.

  3. I hear great things about the quality of the frames and the company
  4. I really want a new tri-bike. I think it may be the difference between me reaching a goal I have and not.

GO FOR IT!

I just ordered my Carbonio/Tri on February 10th, and they said it'd take 6 weeks for them to get it made for me. (I don't know if it'll take less time for an aluminum frame...)

So now I have to wait til the end of March before I can train on mine Frown. You'll be well into APRIL before you can ride yours if you order yours TODAY. And, I guarantee you as the months get warmer, more and more people will be going to the bike shop and getting fitted and ordering their Gurus too....DO IT NOW!

If you really think the new tri bike is what's keeping you from reaching your goals, there should be no doubt that riding something custom fitted to you would make you want to ride ride ride all the time!

I can't wait til mine arrives....
