Jammers look like tri shorts without the mini padding.

I train in a square leg. Race in Tri Shorts.

I train in Jammers. I've got some tri-shorts ordered. Speedo days are but a distant memory...

yep,
Subject: RE: Speedos or Jammers
I recently purchased a pair of Jammers and I have trained in them a few times, but I feel I get a strong workout if I train in Board shorts.  It just feels like I'm wearing a drag suit on top.  I have raced in Jammers then put on Bike shorts and a jersey for the bike.  I am a college student and I'm too poor to afford a Tri suit or shorts right yet.  Maybe next season

Train in speedos or jammers, depending on what's in the bag.

Race in tri shorts

You should race/train in what ever you feel comfortable racing or training in...

I prefer speedos for swim training... race in a one piece tri-suit... Voler for oly distance or shorter... DeSoto for IM distances.

From the land of the Budgy (sic) Smuggler... either Speedo or square leg depending on whether I am training hard or on the pull with the hot french chick in my training group ;-)

Bought a pair of jammers last November, that's what I swim in.

I've got a BT trisuit on order, so I will race in that.

WOW. I thought I was the only one to use Jammers.  I'm just too cheap to drop $100. on a tri suit.  I have this other size body.......Large waist.....skinny legs......small top.   so I have not found a tri suit that fits all three different parts.  I race in the jammers with a good gel seat.

Train in jammers or tri-shorts. Race in tri-shorts.

I have deSoto and Sugoi tri shorts. The Sugois seem to last longer but the deSotos are far more comfortable.

i train in jammers as they feel closer to a tri suit.

just don't train in your tri suit/shorts. Chlorine will kill them in a few weeks

Sorry Matt, with all due respect this comment is wrong. What kills a garment is not the chlorine...it is a combination of the following:

1. The hot shower or the hot jacuzzi after your swim. Hot water burns the spandex fibers leaving the suit material visible after a short time.

or

3. Wrapping your suit in a towel and putting it in your gear bag. Bacteria starts to form within 120 minutes on any moist surface that is not exposed to air.

The best thing to do after using a tri short or a tri suit in a pool, is to let it breathe, let it get lots of air...air dry.

Most of the men I know either train in tri shorts, briefs or jammers, but they almost exclusively race in either tri shorts or a trisuit. If you are looking to invest in one thing then most defintely a pair of tri shorts - I don't think it will be an investment you will regret. I wear my tri shorts and trisuits in the pool a lot - as long as you rinse them out and don't let them fester in a towel or plastic bag they last a long time.......
