Subject: RE: Favorite "junk food" meal vs good food mealI don't really eat junk food--don't like sweets or fried stuff, detest ground beef, can't eat cheese, so that rules out most Western fast food. As junky as I get is some kind of grilled sandwich--usually salmon-- and a big bowl of french fries with chili ketchup (a SE Asian thing). My favorite cafe also has killer spicy Virgin Marys full of veggie sticks to wash it all down with. I justify it since I sweat so much here that I always crave salt. As for healthy food, geez....I love to eat! Have always prefered Asian food, for some reason. Favorites are Lao, Thai, Malaysian, South Indian, and Indonesian dishes. Anything that's rice-based, not too oily, and has a kick to it. I am a chili and lemongrass addict. Rice, fish, veggies, any kind of spicy curry to heat it up, a nice coconut or mango smoothie to kill the flames--heaven on a plate! As for Western food, I prefer breakfast/brunch.....around noon or thereabouts when I have really earned it. My favorite (almost weekly) refueling consists of something called the "Turkish Brunch": raw veggies, bread sticks, and bagel chips with hummis, feta and spinach omelette (I can put up with feta, and there's not much of it in there anyway), a grilled tomato with garlic and herbs, roasted new potatoes, a bread basket (I always just eat the bagel), iced coffee, fresh juice, and greek yogurt with fresh strawberries or a plate of tropical fruit. Yep, I really eat all that. Anyone hungry yet? |
