The point is that it is NOT discrimination. Jesus set the requirements / criteria for the job and the Church is following through.

Various jobs have requirements for those positions, if you don't meet the requirements you can't have the job. That is not discrimination. Ie Radio men on Naval vessels were at one time required to know Morse Code. If you didn't know code you couldn't do the job.  

Concordia University Irvine...would have graduated in 92...but I quit school to go into the Navy.  I wasn't out yet, I thought being in the Navy might make me straight...um...I didn't count on being surrounded by 1000s of gorgeous in shape men in uniform and all showering together...yeah...really didn't cure me!

I don't make them up, I just go by what I've been taught.  I've only been a christian for 6 years so I'm very young in the faith.  I know there are some Christian faiths who have different interpretations of the laws, but I would say that most mainstream bible teaching churches believe what I posted.  Obviously that's a whole other argument and thread possibly, but I just wanted to point out why christians follow some old testament laws and not others.

I'm not sure what you mean about boiling the kid.  As part of the Civil law the Israelites were not supposed to cook a young goat in it's mother's milk (NIV translation) because it was superstitious thing at the time.

One last thing, I am not sure how many people here go through life constantly being told you are wrong or bad...for us LGBT folks, it still happens everyday.  Idiots on TV telling us, we are the reason a gunman killed people in an Aurora movie theatre, telling us, we are the cause for everything wrong in the world...there is only soooo much a person can take.  Sometimes one thing strikes a nerve, and a single person becomes a community, and that community becomes a voice that needs to be heard.  Whether or not we actually put a dent in Chick Fil A's profits isn't necessarily the point...we have used our voice which has caused a conversation here on BT...and maybe there is only 1 person that walks away with a changed mind...maybe not even a changed mind about a boycott, but just a better understanding of what my community goes through on a daily basis...maybe it is no one, maybe nothing changes,  But without honest debates like this, we would get no where and the tide is turning to social tolerance, if not acceptance.  I never thought I would stand up in city hall and say I do!  now I have.  I won't go back!  If I have to become and activist to keep my marriage I will!  I hope any straight couple would vow the same if for any reason their marriage was threatened. 

We are not evil, and our only agenda is to live our lives openly and freely!  Ok...I have said all I can on the subject

Most job requirements cannot be based on gender unless they are religious which gets granted the exception along with the military.  That does not mean it is not discrimination.
