we are going to have so much fun everyone. but janelle your race report scared me a tad. I just suck running in heat like that. yikes!! I definitely need to bring my own water supply but I don't mind getting sprayed with water.

I'll be there; my fourth time. I love this race. Despite the heat it is always a great time.

I'll be there!  This is my second 1/2 mary (I did Shamrock in VA Beach in March) and the first time that I'll be doing this one.  I hear it's a lot of fun from the people I know that have done the race.  I'm a little concerned about the heat.  It's usually still pretty warm in September.  Do people take their own water (fuel belt or something) or just depend on what's available on the course?

I usually take a water bottle that I can throw away because the first few water stops are very congested. Many, many more people than Shamrock. I think the water stops are pretty good; probably every 1 1/2 to 2 miles, a few local people out with a hose to cool the runners down; usually a gel/gu stop somewhere between 8 and 10 miles. The crowd support is great, lots of neighborhoods get together for the water stops; very entertaining. I'll be running slow because of an OLY race the week before and a 1/2 marathon (part of a HIM relay) the week after. I really plan on enjoying the race this year.

How did I forget to mention that? Isn't it closer to mile 7 in Camp Pendleton?

man I made the mistake at the country music marathon this year and took some beer at my 24, I was sick to my stomach in five minutes. And after my tri a couple weeks ago thought I was bombed after only 1/2 glass of beer after the race...clearly I need more water and something solid b4 I switch to beer!

but can't wait to end on the beach!!!

Yay!  It looks like a good group of Bt'ers will be there!  I didn't take my own fluids with me last year, but I probably will this year.  It didn't get hot for me until the last few miles when I was running downtown (lots of concrete and buildings) and on the boardwalk- no shade.  I usually don't run well in the heat, but did better that I thought I would at this race.  From what I remember, it wasn't too humid which was good.

Hey Everyone! I'll be there! This will be my third Elite Racing event of the season, so I'm looking forward to all the fun medals. We should plan on a Friday or Saturday BT Meeting. Any takers?

I'm definitely game for a BT meeting!

Last year me and Jim meeet Joel (FRB_3) at a local tri store and walked a few blocks to do an OWS and then hit the expo.   We should do that again!

Yep, Diamondman's on my schedule too. I'm probably not too smart for doing both, but I've got family coming up for the RnR and I had a good time last year, so what the hell.

I am doing this race for the third time this year.  Yes it is hot.  Drink plenty of fluids.

It is a nice flat course and lots of good sights and people.

yeah I will hit 1:30 somewhere at mile 9 ...you should find a pace group though.

Janelle that sounds like a great idea! we get it late friday night! so have all day saturday to have fun! and then of course all sunday after the race!! we don't leave until monday!

A flat course??!??! I don't think I have ever run more than 3 miles in nashville on a flat course. I can't even fathom that!!
