NFL Player Supports Gay Marriage--Hilarious Letter

WOW! (definitely NSFW) but thanks for the great post TriAya!

I had read Ayanbadejo's initial comments the other day, but I had not seen Kluwe's brilliant letter!  That was great...very reminiscent of a "theonion.com" article I had read a while back.

I've got a point that I don't believe anyone else has brought up yet...this guy has an issue with Ayanbadejo speaking out in support of gay marriage rights...was he also opposed to NFL players vocalizing their opposition to gay marriage?  I don't remember hearing Mr. Burns telling Reggie White (when he was alive) to stop attacking gay marriage. 

What a great letter. A masterful piece of biting humor.

The letter written by the politician is frightening. How do hatred and oppression relate to family values?

However, that is Kluwe's MO.  He rants and raves A LOT, and uses A LOT of profanity.  But he is smart (his parents are something like a engineer and a professor or something like that), and writes a clean blog for one of the MPLS newspapers.

I too loved the original, but along with the beautiful unique sparklepony, I quite enjoyed his reference to a dancing chubtoad.  :D

I completely disagree.  But, nevermind me, here is Kluwe's defense of his use of obsenities:

The swearing is there for a reason. What Emmett C. Burns Jr. wrote, what I responded to, was far more disgusting and foul minded than any simple scatological reference or genital mashup. His words degrade the very essence of the English language with their barely hidden venom and intolerant hate; drag it screaming into the muck of iniquity by wrapping a mantle of seeming reasonableness around corruption and control; masquerade as discourse while screaming their very lie to any Heaven you care to name – I could go on.

My words? My words are a litmus test for those that would see the truth of a message rather than the package it’s delivered in."

I've followed him for years--he's probably my favorite viqueen (YOU ARE STILL DEAD TO ME, MATT BIRK >:/).I always loved him b/c he seems like any other dude my age (well, except that he probably lived in his mom's basement for a bit longer :p). He plays GUitar Hero and World of Warcraft. He's just a normal guy (I'd say kid...but we're older than that now :p).

And while he does tend to skew toward the blue in his communication, they are always well written and quite eloquent. And when you think about it, who is his audience (primarily)? Football fans. If he speaks like a tenured professor or a politician or lobbyist, he's going to lose a big chunk of the people he's trying to reach. It's a fine line to walk...but I totally get what he's doing.
