There used to be a thread on this but cannot find it.  What was the outcome.  Are we going to be able to turn them off?  They severely reduce the enjoyment factor of browsing the site.  Too slow to load, don't really give useful info...

We may only have those popups activated on once click for avatars and usernames.  We would leave the threadtooltip as it is.  I wanted to see what people found annoying and what was useful.  They do behave differently on mobile...so that is a factor in what they do.  Any input on this is greatly welcome as you use this for a bit.

Them popping up as you accidentally mouse over a topic title... that's annoying.

Hmmm...this was an overall desired feature in a poll a few years ago...'so I don't have to go inside every thread to see if I like it...'

We'll see.  Once the bugs are cleared and people have spend some time on how it is now, we can re-poll to see if attitudes changed.

I don't like that they don't close unless I click the subject link again which then will open the thread. Or I click another subject....Then i get another pop up. Problem is they cover up the subject below and you can't see it. They are visually distracting. Would be nice you could just tap the pop up once you've read the blurb and it go away and you can move on. Or it disappears after a couple seconds.

Hey Ron, I too would really like to see the pop-ups just go away, and the tool tip ones are actually the worst. While I understand that folks probably wanted a better idea of what was in a thread before they opened it up, this seems to be a poorly implemented solution, at least the way it works on mobile devices. While it does address some users desires, it does so at the expense of other usability issues. Thanks for sifting through all this.

Well, with all due respect, you have to click so many more times to do anything now, saving a single click to view a forum is hardly justification.

I would like to see the annoying pop-ups just go away.

I'm obviously in the minority, but I like the thread popups for the reason that Ron implemented them:  I don't have to click into each thread, but instead can get a taste of whether I want to or not.

Note, though, that I'm only accessing the site from a computer (Chrome, if that matters).  I'm not sure what the mobile experience would be like and whether I'd like it or not.

The choice to turn them on or off would be awesome (as opposed to the user not having the option).

It's not the pop ups that bother me, it's that they do not have a delay on them before they pop up.  Normally a tool-tip should not show up until you hover for a second or two.

So it's been a month.  I've given them a fair shake.  They HAVE to go.  They are really impeding the viewing of the forums.  Especially the ones where over people's avatars.  It's so distracting.

Please take a serious look at removing this "feature".  Honestly it has really impacted the amount of enjoyment I get out of the site.

I like the idea of them but it needs to be implemented better.  There needs to be a short delay before they appear and there needs to be an easy way to clear them (pressing ESC or simply clicking somewhere else).

Does this work better?  We added a delay on thread titles and last reply.  Avatar and usernames require a click.  Mobile we took away thread title and last reply popups.

I recently just ran a 5 mile race, and in the last 100 meters I was sprinting to pass someone and I felt a "pop" in my left arch. Could I have strained it? What is your advice for healing?

Near the end of one of my long runs, I noticed my left hip aching. There was a slight pop with each step. The hip was sore for 2 days after the run.

The goal is to get stronger while your swim, bike and run training schedule is relatively light and you can afford to hit the weights hard a couple times each week.
