I'm rooting for the Seahawks.  But, frankly, it's the FOOD I'm looking forward to the most.

So, COJ.  What's your fav football party food?

And if you have a great dish you make yourself; share that receipe, too.

Bon Appetit!

7 Layer Dip

Skillet Queso (cheese, chorizo/sausage, grilled onion/bell peppers) mix together in skillet, put in oven, garnish with tomatoes, sour cream, guac, more cheese, and cilantro....or whatever you want/don't want.

Wings, but with a dry rub and grilled so they aren't all greasy.

I'm assuming that, for this topic, beer isn't going to be considered a food.

Beer, at least good beer, is absolutely a food.

I'm doing up 16 lbs of smoked pulled pork.

Getting a smoker for Xmas was great for party food, terrible for the waistline.

At the annual party I attend, I look forward most to is the Swedish meatballs (which is my contribution!).  I also get plenty of Chili Con Carne and the nacho bar.

We have a regular Jello Shot schedule (in team colors).

My specialties are beer brats and beer wings:

Beer brats:

  1. Saute onion, 1 per 10 brats
  2. Add brats, cover with beer (I usually use Budweiser)
  3. Bring beer to boil, boil for 10 minutes
  4. Transfer brats to hot grill, just a few minutes on each side to crisp the skin.
  5. Transfer brats back to the beer to keep warm for serving.

Beer Wings:

  1. Put wings in pot, cover with beer
  2. Bring beer to boil, boil for 10 minutes (longer if wings frozen)
  3. While beer boiling, make sauce (in sauce pan) : 2 cup Franks Red Hot, 1/2 stick butter, crushed garlic
  4. After wings are done boiling, transfer to hot grill, just a few minutes on each side to crisp the skin
  5. Toss wings in sauce

I like the Jell-O shot idea.

We used to play "situational football" for Monday Night Football parties. Put slips in a hat. Which are marked with Denver pass interference, Seattle punt, Denver TD! Seattle FG and such. Nothing which happens too often like first downs, etc. You pay a dollar to get a slip and when the situation happens, you take the pot and everyone antes up again. It was really fun and not a wallet buster.

x2 I got a WSM last Christmas and added 10 lbs. you should try "Pepper Stout Beef" from the website Wolfe Pit. You'll thank me or curse me. Its a great sandwich if you ever get pulled porked out.

I'm simple and just like Rotel/Velveeta queso. Yum.
Will probably also make these buffalo chicken meatballs to snack on.

The buffalo balls look tasty! The hostess of the superbowl party I'm going to will be making "Buffalo dip", which is basically chicken, cream/bleu cheese, and franks red hot baked into a gooey dip goodness.

I used to stick to the standby of regular Vodka and a Jell-O of choice.  But now with all the infused vodka (and of course the plethora of schnappses (or is it schnappie?) and other liqueurs, you can make some fun stuff.  Orange Jell-O and Mandarin vodka?  Maybe some marshmallow vodka and a Jell-O of choice?  Grape vodka and blue raspberry for the "other" team (or something with lime Jell-O).

went a little pinterest crazy this morning and made my superbowl menu!

making lisac's buffalo balls as well as the following:

chicken and spinach flautas

pizza sticks (although i'm using crescent rolls, same idea)

cookies and cream cheesecake cupcakes

just serving beers to drink.  jello shots is too much work for me to deal with, and my party will be a pretty low-key get together, so i don't think there will be much shot-taking.
