It looks like they changed the exit for the swim....if you are going, get ready for ~600 yard run to T1 (maybe more).

From what I saw at Chicago, and what I remember from the venue last year in Milwaukee, I'd say it's going to be really close to the same.  The big difference is that this one will be flat as opposed to Chicago's mostly up hill.

From what I hear, it's probably better than the slippery chute they had last year

I don't know.....they just pulled you up the chute.  The bright spot is there will likely be less congestion under the bridge during the swim since they don't have to make room for out and back.  There were some pretty good battles there last year.

I was there yesterday. Its at most an extra 150 yards from last year, then you run onto the same path behind transition. And yes....flat.

As an ex college water polo player, I think I would have done better on the old course

Definately....that swim had a lot of contact when it narrowed under the bridge....especially as faster waves caught slower people there.

For you that have been there in the past. Has it been wet suit legal?

What size?  I've got one I'm not going to be using.  I will bring it and you are welcome to it if it fits you.

I am 2xl and even then I think I was over stretching the suit. Currently at 330 lbs. Thanks for the offer but reason I not replacing it until next year. I am just going to have to deal with the cold for about 30 minutes.

Yesterday a guy told me the temp just off the harbor was 63°. So maybe a degree or 2 higher in that protected area. Definitely wetsuit.

I started a race thread but of course that shows up in the state forums for WI.

Just trying to get up a roll call is it appears some attending this race do not have this race in their race log yet.

Race Thread --> http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp...

It would be nice to chat with some of you at the event, maybe get a BT pic or two.

Please report back with Bib# once you get it.

Yes.....forecast lows all week in the upper 50's....water temps aren't going to rise.

I'm in the middle of the pre-race online briefing and the RD said the T1 run will be about 300ft longer this year.

LOL...that depends on how they measure it.  Last year the fastest transitions were ~1:30.....at Chicago the fastest were ~2:50 but uphill.  So look for around 1:50 with flat ground if they are only claiming another 100 yards..  That's ~600 yards total running for the fast guys including grabbing their bike/helmet.  I'll stick with ~600 yard total transition.....depending where your bike is.

Using google maps the run is right at 500ft longer......total for out of the water to mount line is ~1500 ft, and can be a bit more depending on where your bike is in a massive transition area.  Get on your horse!    No matter what, the course looks much better without having to go under the bridge and up the slide again.

I see a couple bridge crossings on the bike.  Substantial at all?  Did Miami and NOLA 70.3 and the bridge crossings were pretty frickin big, at least enough to affect pacing.  Elevation profile looks like no big deal...

Yes, it's a BIG bridge, the one just south of transition....it's looong....and if the wind is up it's a wild ride according to Jr.

According to me too, be prepared for the wind to toss you around a bit. I HATED the "covers" they put over the joints. I almost took myself out descending in aero on the bridge last year. I hope they change that.  Also the ramp last year wasn't bad if you just grabbed the shoulders/arms of the volunteers/other competitors on your way up....I wont miss it though.

Get a wetsuit. It will be cold enough that you will want one. seriously. 30 minutes+warmup (using your time estimate) will be enough to make you quite cold.
