USAT reported 66 degress. No need to bring the swimskin, it will be wetsuit legal.

Good prep for Edmonton. A decent run over to T1 out of the swim there.

Two questions...

1.) For those who went last year, you don't have to wait right by the swim staging area while waiting for your wave, do you?  I'm the very last wave so from 7:30 when transition closes until 10:12 when my wave starts, I'll be standing around just waiting.  If I can I'd like to go somewhere and just relax rather than be by the swim staging area.

2.) Why does the M24-U wave go dead last?  It had the second and third fastest age groups in that wave last year.  M25-29 was fastest, followed by 20-24 and then 19-U.  Won't a lot of people in this wave have a congested course because they'll be passing a lot of people?

It makes no sense, we ran straight into older women last year under the bridge, chaos.

Some(many) events put fast groups at the end to condense the race, this shortens the time they need to close roads and have support in different areas.

In fairness, after the "search and rescue mission" for the guy who forgot to tell anyone he wasn't racing, after he got his chip, and so therefore actually wasn't in the bottom of the harbor, they had to condense the waves in the sprint race.  But yes, old women were pummeled.

+1
They did that at Augusta in 2012... really threw me off my game.

Starting at 9:30 Saturday (thankfully first Sunday) my advice... pay attention to how many matches you are burning trying to pass packs of people at one time.

If you need any equipment (wetsuit....caps...goggles....bike accessories.....heck, bike.....) for the event while you are intown, i highly recommend Emery's.  Local shop run by Brent Emery (1984 olympic medalist).  Here is the link to the shop:

I finally decided to register for the sprint, but it looks like I am too late. That should teach me to believe the "it has never sold out" blurb. At least I'm in for the Oly. Heading out bright and early tomorrow morning for WI.

Am I reading the World's qualification right in that it is now the Top 25 and not the Top 18 rolling down to 25? I highly doubt I can even make that but if that is true I might have a very far outside chance at it.

7 extra slots for the host country, so 25 slots. Then later (after the slots are filled/left open) they'll send emails for the rolldown.

Yes.....forecast lows all week in the upper 50's....water temps aren't going to rise.

Water temp can change if there is a drastic change in the wind direction.

You can follow the (mostly) daily temp here.

Yes, it's a BIG bridge, the one just south of transition....it's looong....and if the wind is up it's a wild ride according to Jr.

this is the bridge

it really isn't that steep, the biggest issue is really the crosswinds

Thanks for the info on the roll down. Looking at last years results I've got my work cut out for me. Again, doubt I will do it but gonna try to cut the gap in 1/2 from last year since I'm 10 pounds lighter and have actually been able to train more.

In reality I'd have to trim off 12-13 minutes. I think I can reasonably trim 6-8.

And the bridge isn't terrible. The winds, though, can be nasty.

Yeah, if I can trim about 27 minutes off my oly PR I just may have a shot !

thanks for the bridge info. I ride a hed 3 front so things can get a little squirrely in x winds but my weight with a disc rear is enough to keep the rubber down.

heading out tomorrow evening for the long flight

If you're still interested, send an emai to: [email protected] If you haven't tried already. Website said Oly was closed last Thursday when I tried to register, send them an email, got in due to cancellations etc.

The gal I was working with was Samantha, superb customer service!
