I have finished my last race for 2019 and I'm starting to plan my 2020.

I know that there are still some big races coming up. I am just not signed up for those :-)

What's left on your schedule this year and do you have plans for next year already?

After taking a break for health reasons I am going to do the Ironman 70.3 in Coeur d'Alene (my hometown race) next year and I think I am also going to ride the bike leg on a relay team for the IM Santa Rosa 70.3 about 45 days earlier.

I’ve got a couple of road races lined up for the rest of this year.

Next year I’ll be looking to do a couple of sprint and Olympic distance triathlons in the summer and set my sights on Augusta 70.3 for my A race again...most likely. There is a 70.3 a month after Augusta that I’m thinking about trying too. I felt recovered enough this year to have been able to do it.

I’m bummed that a local race group moved a local 70.3 a month earlier in the year so I won’t be able to participate in it for 2020. I like to support local folks when I can.

Im also looking at possibly mixing in an ultra marathon in January or February.

A lot of stuff still up in the air. I need to sit down with a calendar.

As soon as I'm done with my last race of the year, I love the super chill recovery weeks and looking at next year's calendar. My last tri was WC 70.3 in Sept and I've already got two 70.3's on the docket for next year. Will go to PR in March and do LP in Sept with my oldest son. Should be fun!

What are your plans Amy?

Absolutely started to plan 2020. I always try to take advantage of the early registration (any $ saved on a race means I can do more races!)

My 2019 won't be done until early Dec but I'm registered for the new 70.3 in Blue Ridge, VA next June. After that, it'll either be a late season 70.3 or 140.6. Truth to tell, I've probably been planning for the next year way in advance for about as long as I've been doing tri. Having races scheduled way off in the future is a great way to stay motivated...

I took the month of October as my tradition month off from training.  During that time I always start to gather training plans for the upcoming year and look at race plans for the upcoming year.   I have two tentative races at the moment.  Lots of races have price increased on January first so I typically finalize my race plan the last week of December.  Some years my first choice in races has been sold out by December 31st so you know there are plenty of people planning now.   Lots of the local Sprint races won't have event information for next year up yet.  Especially the late summer/fall races so I search what raced were held in the current year and assume they will be held about the same week the following year.  Two years ago one of my races I was planning on doing didn't happen and two of the races I have wanted to do have changed when they do the race (one moved 2 weeks earlier and one 2 months later), but it is easier to plan things early and make adjustments than to wait until the overworked volunteer race director finally get information up 6 weeks before the race.

I am considering a 15K in February and want to do some Olympic and 70.3 races next year.  The Olympic and 70.3 are all I did in triathlon for the first 4 years.  This year I did 4 sprints and loved them so I will be open to jumping on board any local Sprint that I find too.

I'm already planning for 2020 while the race dates are coming out. I'm planning to do about 2 marathon swimming races which I have identified already but not yet signed up, 2 - 3 trail orienteering world ranking events, and perhaps the trail orienteering world championships at the end of the year.

I'm currently revising my plans because I accidentally signed up for two races on the same day in different cities. OOPS. I'm going to start with South Beach Tri here in Miami which is one of my favorite races. Then I'm going to do 1-2 70.3s and a Fall Ironman. I'm in the lottery for the Chicago Marathon so we'll see what happens there.

I had originally planned to take another month or so "off" from training, but then I put in my annual training plan into Training Peaks and it told me to get my fat butt on the bike now.

I've planned out pretty much everything for 2020 - a bunch of bike races and at least one tri at the end of the season.
