Subject: Sale on the Garmin 305

Hey BT,
I don't know anything about this company or the HRM for that matter, but I got this email from my triclub and thought some of you may want it too.

I believe the 305 is on sale for $217 with free shipping, then if you sign up for some newsletter, you get a $50 rebate, so it is on sale for $165.

No idea if that is a good deal or not, but thought you might want to check it out

Tom

That is the most awesome deal of the century.

I would pick one up right now if I just didn't buy a disc wheel.

That's the Edge, a completely different (cycling oriented) product.

Garmin say it is up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.  I have heard people say they use it swimming all the time.

I jumped on this when I seen the rebate.  My wife won't like it though, cause without gps she knew my routes.  Although I like my Polar, it's nice not having to wear the 201 & HRM.

To get the $50 rebate, you have to buy the Garmin by Nov 30.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago. Yes you have to sign up for a newletter, it's from Powerbar, and it's actually not that bad. Bought it from thenerds.net and also received $5 off for using yahoo checkout. The 305 is much more accurate than mapmyrun, so my 6.2 mile training run, that I always kicked butt on, was actually only 5.9 miles.

When I added the 305 to my shopping cart at Amazon it was 214, verses 217 the one and 211 at buydig.  If you add the footpod, it is cheaper at amazon by a bunch.  I have a 301, and have been thinking about getting the 305 with the footpod for track running indoors.

You will be stunned at how much better the 305 is than than 301.

Footpod . . . i like the technology and have had the Polar version of the footpod . . . but I cannot see getting one for the 305. I never run indoors unless on a Treadmill. Other than that, it would have no purpose for me.

I've done OWS' with my 305 more than a few times (mainly races).  Its interesting to download the data post-race and see how straight (or not) your lines are.

at times the data is wacked (I alway wear it on my wrist and suspect its from not keeping a strong signal).  I know some peeps place the garmin under their swimcaps for a bit more protection and to get a more consistent signal.

WAH! I want one! I had planned on getting myself one for xmas... but not until AFTER the holiday because that is when I'll have money. I'm trying to see if there is a way to get it now, it is going to take some number crunching.

Is anyone getting or have the cadence sensor? Thoughts on it?

Oh... and you don't need to sign up for the newsletter for the rebate form. Here it is: http://www.powerbar.com/nirf/cm2/upload/DAF91EB5-A696-4635-AA2D-BB7...

I bought one for my roadie and one for my tri bike.  And I bought the bike kits too.  Then I took my bike computer off both bikes.

I love it.  Clean, simple, no wires, one computer for both bikes.  The only issue is making sure my 305 is charged up before my rides.

I have the bike mount kit . . .quick release to put it on my bike and then to my wrist. Like they said, that is very clean.

I need to get a second mount for my MTB and then get some cadence sensors . . . one step at a time I guess.

WOW, here I thought I was done buying toys, but with the addition of being able to easily add cadence to my new road bike.....sheesh had to do it.

I have two cadence sensors (tri bike & roadie).  almost everytime I'm in a race or riding with a group I have to "rescan" for the signal because it seems the garmin gets confused when other wireless computers are around.  this is A LOT of button-hitting but its second nature now...

I made a mounts for both bikes.  ...I believe I'm going to get the velcro strap
