The longest I normally went without was about 2 hours, I put down 4 cans a day.  Really the only exception was training, I could go without dip but as soon as I hit the shower my mouth was watering.

I'm no poet, I should have credited Mr. Zombie on that one, I just reworked it.

True story you can never go back. I hear it already well four cans a day I can just do one that will be better than... BULL! Don't let your mind play tricks on you.

Your mind wants you to dip it will do all sorts of stuff to talk you into it. I know it's tough but it gets easier. I promise. Fight fight fight Never give in.

Something that really helped me. I thought of this guy I know that smoked. He was physically repulsive to me (nice guy but..) every time I smelled a cigarette or thought I'd like one more, I thought of him. I tried to magnify my disgust in my mind. A tool to use in my fight against that demon named cigarettes.

It will get easier.

Are you still clean after as we start another day?  Update!

It's normal to feel remorse about never dipping right now.  Dipping was your "friend" for a long time.  Can't expect that to go away immediately.  So, realize that and FIGHT through each urge as they come and go.  They're already decreasing bit by bit with every hour that goes by without a disgusting wad of sh#t in your mouth.

Define Clean.  Not Dirty? Pure of Heart and mind?

"Dipping was your "friend" for a long time."  Oh, dip still is my friend, I'll always remember the good times we had together. But now dip has foresaken me, just like one of my groomsmen who got drunk and told me he had a crush on my wife.

No, have yet to stick a wad of sh#t in your mouth.  That's "clean" for you.

Oh, you meant a sweet, delicious, mouth watering, pinch of heaven?  No, none of that.

I am hopeful for where I'm goin'
but I belong in the South
That was where I's born a po' boy

Livin' life like there's no end in sight
even so I've done without

Dippin' days where did they go?

I quit Copenhagen Longcut last Mothers Day. I started chewing when I was 12 & used tobacco in one form or another for 30 years. I quit smoking after watching a coworker rot away from lung cancer. I had a health scare that left me in a hospital bed for 3 days getting really bad prognosis (Hepatitis, Cirrhosis, ect.). It turned out to be minor (stone in my bile duct up in my liver), but I vowed to do whatever I could to ensure I never returned to the ER due to my lifestyle.

I loved all forms of tobacco, but when I was ready to move on, I left it far behind & rarely thought about it. The problem with Copenhagen, in my experience, is that you can have quit for years & just pick it up for no reason. I don't miss it because I really don't think about it anymore. I wish you luck & would suggest that you move on & try to quit letting it rent space in your melon. BTW White Zombie is my favorite.

Excellent progress. If you made it this far you can make it forever.

I was watching this thread when you first started it and I was hoping to see a follow up like this one!

Keep up the good work. Now go give your wife & kids a non-toxic kiss.

Congrats on making it this far!  Does quitting dipping bring any changes in your senses like when people quit smoking and say their sense of smell/taste changes?  Or maybe it hasn't been long enough  yet.

Proud of you.

Good Job! Stay focused. It's not the nicotine addiction that will get you now, it's the habits you've formed over the years. If they're too strong try replacement for awhile. Seeds, gum, candy, dried fruit. This will sound weird but I used a contact lens keeper and filled it with baking soda. When I would have a craving I would wet my finger dip it in and then put what stuck in my mouth. Tastes like crap but you get used to it and it replaces a habit. Later I used those little bottles of breath freashener drops.

You've done it know. Stick to it. You don't ever want to go through this last week again.

I feel for ya man.  I was a regular (not 4 tins a day, but regular) for 10 years.  I quit three years ago and was off the stuff for about two and half years.  This summer I worked construction (I am a teacher) and my whole crew dipped constantly.  Needless to say I am back at it, not habitually, but more than I would like (that is at all).  So good luck, I think you have inspired me to go cold turkey again.

Things to help: Seeds (I should have bought stock for all I used), gum, toothpicks, hard candy, and my secret weapon was green tea bags (seriously, when it was real bad, I wet a green tea bag and put it in

Good luck
