  • Comments: Buffalo does a good job for the size of the race. Disappointed no food left for me but I could have grabbed some before going to car so my choice. Jerry got thru the awards in a good fashion. Got my pic taken with AG podium finishers and it should show up on race web site. Talked quite a bit afterwards with Lynn the 2nd place guy in my AG from Bismark.

  • Comments: Over-all this was a 5 minute improvement from last year. With the wind, i am very happy with my performance. usually the top 3 in each age group are around 2:10. none of the fast people were there today. SO i am pleased with 2nd place in my AG. The past 2 years the post race food was very good. this year it was cookies, some bananas and apples not enough for every race. there were 3 food trucks there that people could buy food. I suppose i should plan a little recovery food and bring it with me. Mcdonalds was very grateful for the lack of food. wow they were packed. This is still a very well run race. I know of a couple of timing issues, but that unfortunately will happen. There are so many volunteers and traffic is well tended to.I look forward to racing it again next year. It was great to chat with Ryan, jodi, and david after.

  • Comments: Buffalo does a great job with most things, lot's of volunteers, orgnaized, on time, etc. The real issue is the size of the race and the congestion early & late on the bike. I knew what to expect so handled it well. Being last Oly wave off doesn't help.

  • Comments: Awesome volunteers... Great race if you can deal with the large volume of athletes on the sometimes tight course.

  • Comments: overall i was 1 minute slower than last year. My beginning of the year goal for this race was 2:15. It was a good evaluation of my current fitness level, and a motivator for the future. I also think it is a not cool that they ran out of both finisher medals and water. That really disappoints me. I think the lack of attention to the racers that come in later is upsetting. everyone paid the same entry, everyone should get the same treatment.

  • Comments: Actually I thought the race was pretty well done. I think it's not the race for ME, but it's a good race. My only disappointment was the feeling at the end. I hate being towards the end and, for the first time ever, no one offered to help with my chip. No one gave me a medal (just realized this). No water was offered. That's a bummer. They put on a good food spread, but I skipped it this year because the line was super long.

  • Comments: I liked this race a lot for the venue and would do it again. I'm drawn to the slightly smaller towns with a medium sized field. The venue, the lake, and the scenery on the bike and run were all pluses. The one negative was the crowded field on the bike, so maybe having one loop for olympic would be a better alternative.

  • Comments: I heard bad things about the crowds going into this race. Were there a lot of people? Heck yeah. Did it slow me down? I don't think so. Overall, it was a good alternative for an early-season race.

  • Comments: Very well run race, things seemed to go right on time and very smooth. You could tell they've been doing this race for quite a few years. Plenty of drink stations on the run with water, gatorade and Gu, which I applaud. Alot of people griped about the bike course being too crowded, but I'm often leading the pack of complainers and I thought it was fine. I'll be back again next year, looking to shave 15 minutes off my time.

  • Comments: Cannot say enough about the volunteers. Even though I was way back-of-the- pack, those yellow shirts were always ringing their bells and shouting encouragement when I went by on the bike. And on the swim, a couple of times I stopped because I thought they were yelling something at me but they were shouting encouragement. And on the run, when I stopped to walk, they got on my case - haha

  • Comments: This was right up there with the most fun I've ever had competing in any form of sports or races. The volunteers were amazing all day, including the ones who served our meal (to 1500 racers).

  • Comments: Over all, i was so happy with the race. We will do it again next year! I was worried about the bike course and the 1500 racers, but it was totally manageable. I think that is due to the plethora of volunteers and police officers. They really new what they were doing and I felt completely safe and at ease the whole time. THis is a well organized race with a very WIDE range of competitors in all shapes, sizes and abilities. I dont have lot of experience with races (yet) but this was very good

  • Comments: I've been using the website for well over a year and this is my first contribution. I feel I may finally have things to share with other novice folks. To that audience, this is a good race to put on the calendar. It's early in the season, which keeps you moving in winter. It contains reasonable hills which keep you honest but don't kill you. It's a big event but not huge, so just the right amount of "what the hell am I doing" mixed with folks to answer that question. It's not overwhelmingly big (my last tri was Chicago(sprint), it gave me some perspective). If you're new and going to do this race, pay attention to the other posts about biking and get out of the way for faster riders. Overall it's a good event. I was much faster than expected overall. I beat last year's Olympic goal time and have set a new bar for myself. I guess that's what's supposed to happen as you do a few more of these events. Thank you to the organizers and volunteers for giving me a fun and successful

  • Comments: As others have said, the problem with this race is the number of participants and the overlap between Oly and Sprint courses. 4 years in a row, we'll have to see about next year. Very happy with results, especially after somewhat dissappointing time at KC. At awards when they announced 3rd in my AG I thought, o well, good race anyway and was suprised & happy to get 2nd in AG. I got some Tifosi sunglasses with multiple lenses, pretty neat. I did miss my AG picture, 1st place in AG was a 50 yr old.

  • Comments: Like others say be careful... it is crowded on the last leg of Bike where the runners/Bikers/cars/dogs/people/kids/motorcycles/semi's/ police cars/ etc. all are within the same 30-40 feet of pavement.

  • Comments: We will not be going back to Buffalo. Even though it's a well-run race on a nice course, it's too crowded to be safe. I had a couple close calls, but Jeremy's accident was too much. We'll go somewhere else that weekend next year. If they change the course or lower the entry limit, I'll reconsider.

  • Comments: I probably will not do this race again. It is way to full and I saw several accidents due to congestion and people not being aware of basic riding rules. Many times bikers were 4 and 5 people wide. It is a good race but it is time to move on.

  • Comments: Tough conditions this year. I was pleased with my race but disappointed with my time compared to last year. I was 10:07 slower overall. I also did an Oly at KC this year the week before. +2 min on swim, +8 min on bike, -1.5 min on run, +1 min on transitions. This was inline with overall winner times +10 min this year and AG winner +11 min, so I think the conditions played a big part. Buffalo is big and there is a lot of congestion on the bike early for me but it's still a fun race.
