  • Comments: What can you say Larry and Michelle put on a top notch event and do everything they can to help you succeed given the heat. I already can't wait (can't believe I'm saying this since so close to yesterday's pain!) to come back next year with a goal of under 3 hours.

  • Comments: Thanks to all volunteers, life guards and other cheerers,, we appreciate it. Hope you enjoyed reading and learned something. I'm not an expert and used this site to learn so figured I'd give back to the newbies and others in need of information.

  • Comments: CGI does a good job of planning and organizing their races. Course was reasonable for all three, though not as shady as they said initially. Met my goals for my first Olympic - I finished, I wasn't last in my age group and I did it in under 4 hours. I had hoped for 3:30. With better swim and run training and cooler weather, I might be able to do that.

  • Comments: The NJ State Sprint was my first ever triathlon in 2008. In 2010 it was my first Olympic distance tri. It was great... very, very well run. Thanks to all the volunteers and thanks for the misting tent!

  • Comments: Very well organized race! Lots of volunteers, course was well marked. My only suggestion would be to hand out those cooling rags sooner on the run on a hot day like yesterday. I would definitely come back and do this race again!

  • Comments: Great race, superbly organized. Plenty of friendly volunteers and I could have hugged everyone at each aid station on the run handing out cold water. I'll definitely do this race again.

  • Comments: GCI puts on good race. This year sprint on Saturday, OLY on Sunday since last year too hot by time OLY started. Brutal heat this year had same consequences. Maybe more wet towels, was really looking forward to them.

  • Comments: When we picked up our packets yesterday, I expressed me excitement about my first race. Denise from the Jersey Shore Tri Club actually hugged me and gave me a full orientation to the race! I may be a newbie, but I'm an experienced spectator. I chose this race because my fiance loves it and I really enjoyed watching this one more than others. As an athlete, the experience is even more amazing...not only are the RDs, spectators, and volunteers wonderful and supportive, but the athletes are equally terrific!!! My fiance is always in the top handful of finishers, so he hasn't experienced quite the level of teamwork and kindness I did smack in the middle of the pack...when I passed people on the run or bike, they rooted for me, and I did the same. In the last half mile, I ended up running alongside another woman, and as we approached the finish, we encouraged each other. After we finished, she sought me out to give me a hug! What an amazing introduction to this sport!!! Everyone I encountered

  • Comments: i loved the race but it was an eye opener that if i had trained better in certain areas that i could be even better. As a swimmer I was not impressed with my swim time but when I saw the results online saying I was 36th overall in the swim I felt pretty good. I definitely need to train harder and more though. For next year(if I am in the lower 48) I will be training a lot harder especially on the run. I absolutely thank all of the volunteers at CGI and everyone else who gave me a keep going or a you can do it the entire time. It was by no means an easy race(for me) but all of the spectators and other racers were all for cheering on others.

  • Comments: This race is okay. I think they could work on a few things. 1. They were pretty disorganized in the morning. I got pretty frustrated trying to walk from parking to the start with my mom. I had no less than THREE people point us in one direction and then when we get there and start to cross we got yelled at and told to go back to the three people who had just told us to cross at that specific point. They obviously had not thought it out AT ALL how to get spectators back and forth after the race started. This one is an easy fix...f'ing PLAN. 2. The bike course needs help. You read my comments above. SEVERAL very dangerous spots. And lots of confused people. And I wish they would find some kind of fix to the uber-stupid-long run from the transition to the mount/dismount line. At the very least move the damn timing mats so most of that running time is actually included in your transition time and not your bike time so your speed is more accurate. 3. Timing. I did not appreciate

  • Comments: This is a great race on a fun course; perfect for a first timer or veteran. Lin-mark put on a great race and am looking forward to competing here next year. Overall, I finished 5 minutes and 40 seconds or so faster than last year and 1 min and 1 second short of my goal of 2hr 30min. While my swimming time was worse (I chalk this up to poor strategy as I know I am in much better shape) and my running was sub-par (again, injury) my bike and transition times significantly improved. Next year my goal is to shoot for a 2:25ish time see you then.
