  • Comments: Nice lake, not as deep and cold as the Finger Lakes. I doubt it ever gets as choppy, and has no motorboats to make swell. Sandy bottom pretty clear of weeds. The view from the top of the dam is extremely nice. I'm very happy with my swim: I felt confident ans strong throughout, and my time was right where I felt it should be. Although my bike & run times were slower than in my previous race, I am happy with them considering the terrain. I take transitions very seriously. I beat my AG competitor by 10 minutes, but almost half of that was in the transitions. I am of course ecstatic with my T1, but my T2 was somewhat disappointing. All in all, another good race and time for a week's vacation in Oregon!

  • Comments: Our club may be more involved with organizing this race in years to come and we certainly know how to improve it. Highlight of the day was watching my nine year old daughter complete her first triathlon. Seeing how excited the kids and parents were made it very worthwhile. Our next generation of triathletes are coming on strong! Beat my time from last year and set a p.b.! enough said.

  • Comments: Got to get off my arse and get a letter out to the organizers.... 1. need a water station at the turn around on the far side of the dam 2. need to shorten the bike course to eliminate the dangerous u-turn This is my home race and the site of my first ever triathlon so I'll be coming back to this one until they put me in the ground. Congrats to all Broome County Tri club members and a big thank you to those that set up tents, brought the coolers/food etc. You guys rock!

  • Comments: This a great venue that is run by the county parks dept. Unfortunately, there were no volunteers and the park employees just didn't have the same enthusiasm as volunteers do. They do a fine job, don't get me wrong. I think this race will get bigger and much more competitive in the next few years. I predict the Sled Dog (Tim Andrus) will win this race next year, I hope to give him a little run for his money though!

  • Comments: had a great day with the club. dropped 8 minutes from last year felt great after the race. Looked back at last years performance and noticed that If I put this time up I would have been in 4th out of 8 in the age group, but this year the competition was stronger and was 6 out of 7

  • Comments: This race is the PERFECT tune up for Ironman Lake Placid!!!! The hills are on par with getting the legs ready for a hilly ride. Not much exciting stuff for a post race meal (compared to Keuka, Musselman, Black Bear). Was there a DJ this year?? No massage tent.. hmm Would like to see this race turn into an EVENT, not just a race. On the really bright side... this is the largest I've seen the race. I believe they had 140 athletes in it.

  • Comments: This race has SO MUCH POTENTIAL to be a really awesome race, but it definitely lacks a little something, something. They had this the same weekend as the Utica Boilermaker and that wasn't a good idea. There were fewer athletes this year and there was talks of canceling this triathlon, which would be a tremendous shame. I got $25 for winning my age group which was pretty cool, BUT the newspaper only reported the overall top 10 finishers. ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME???????!!!! There was a man in his MID 70S that raced. AND THE COMMUNITY DOESN'T KNOW BECAUSE IT WASN'T SHARED BECAUSE AGE GROUPS WEREN'T REPORTED. That's awful, awful, awful. I was looking forward to seeing my own name in print, but I was more upset that A) the top 10 finishers were all males. Show the females some love, please!! AND, there are so many people that should have been recognized for their accomplishment by placing in their age group. HELL, the top female finisher wasn't even recognized in the paper.

  • Comments: The race director changed this year, so I'm not sure how that changed things. They only mark our number on our right leg. I think it'd be helpful to have the other leg marked with our age. Packet pick up went smooth, the transition area had no assigned racks and I thought last year they were. The TA wasn't marked...no signs for bike in/bike out or run in/run out and I think that is helpful to new people because I knew 3 people for sure who were racing for the first time. There also wasn't a sign for the dismount line and my mom said a lot of people were riding into the TA. Last year after the race we all got a lunch and that wasn't the case this year. They had cut up bananas and oranges. For a $30 entry fee, though, you can't expect too much. I placed 2nd in my age group and was supposed to receive a $15 gift certificate to Dick's, but only got one for $10. So, I'm not sure if that was an error or if that was the case for all the 2nd place finishers. It's a little annoying

  • Comments: This was good for the a first run race but sub par compared to others. Not really orgainzed as well as it could have been. Even though I did not have a stelar performance I think this gave me the boast I needed because I felt good in the run.
