  • Comments: Hats off to Midwest for making some good adjustments to course to deal with construction. Aid stations seemed well manned and stocked. My running has made some huge leaps in the last year and so has my attitude. I now expect to PR. It was nice to stick to the plan and get the desired results. The flat course and cool temps also helped for sure. This was a very satisfying race, but it was just a step to the big prize of the year: Lakefront marathon. This race did give me a boost that I just might be able to hit my goals for that race.

  • Comments: This was a lot of fun - I liked the course, more crowd support than I expected, tons of water stops, friendly volunteers and well run. Plus it was great seeing all the donkeys - as always! Nice job guys!!!

  • Comments: I had never done the original/normal Lake Country race so I don't really have anything to compare it to. The only real negative that I saw was having us run on the boardwalk where they also put a water station. People throwing down their cups right along the lake isn't a good idea. In addition it also created a nice wooden version of the slip 'n' slide that could catapult you into Lake Fowler. I cautiously ran over that area and hopefully others did the same without injury. Overall this race was well organized and well run with plenty of nice volunteers who did a great job. I am glad I ran it and perhaps will do it again next year.

  • Comments: once again, great day and a great race... good to see all of the donkeys out there... pjgrande, lrunfit, rosshole and his wife, kbreitz and his wife (congrats to her on the hardware), tall_tri_dad and jmwebs... plus a number of people from my office (and their spouses) out there as well... oddly enough I actually missed all 3 of my goals but am still really pleased with the result... once again, goals were... 1) finish in the top 20 (finished 22nd/838)... 2) top 3 AG (finished 4th/55)... 3) go sub 1:25... (finished 1:25:15)... thats okay... came close on all three...!!! will get 'em next time... :)

  • Comments: I love the course - did it last year too. Probably won't do it again only because I know it so well now. Would rather choose a different race.

  • Comments: So, overall I am happy. Great day racing and set a PR for a 1/2 marathon. Next goal is to hit 1:34. Kudos goes out my wife who ran her first Half-Mary in 1:49:31.

  • Comments: I ran carrying a bottle full of gatorade so I didn't have to stop at the water stations. I still can't drink out of a cup and run at the same time. Since I did that I didn't think much about the number of drink stations, but my wife said there were few in the second half of the race when she really needed it. Speaking of my wife, I can do a little bragging that she placed 3rd in the Athena division and got her PR by about a minute finishing in 1:59:00. Way to go Jenny!!

  • Comments: Midwest did a nice job with this race and aid stations were well stocked (or so I was told) Like the new course and plan on doing it again next year. As always, even though results were not quite where I wanted them, had a great time hanging with my friends and running in the beautiful day.

  • Comments: Nicely stocked aid stations (gel, endurolytes, water, Gatorade). The sponges were great at mile four but needed more of them later in the race as the temps rose. Some of the water was from a well and it upset my stomach (thankfully not until after the race).

  • Comments: Fantastic course. They started a few minutes late due to bathroom lines, which was fine with me! Definitely recommend this race for anyone looking for a late summer half mary.

  • Comments: Considering, where I am right now, this race was a big success. I am pleased that I worked the plan just like I , well, planned. On top of that I beat last year's time by 7 minutes. Weather was perfect and this is an absolutely beautiful course. Only disappointment: not one person made any comment about my Donkey jersey. I guess these runners just take themselves too serious.

  • Comments: well put on race, music on course was a nice touch. Race started a little late because of fog. Overall I was real pleased with where my current fitness is. Originally I wasn't sure I could complete this distance. In fact this limited my performance. Because I think could have made 2 hours pretty easily. However, I'm happy I exceeded my expectations and accomplished a goal that used to seem impossible.

  • Comments: This race allowed for major self reflection. Considering that this is my first year of running and tris, I feet it has been great. Losing 40 pounds, quitting smoking and enjoying exercise in a year is a great feeling. I now know that I can set MAJOR goals, train hard, and accomplish them. One more Tri and the year is done.
