Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official ThreadJust nailed down the housing thing today ... we lucked up with a place >1/2 mi from transition and the race course. That said, the closer in places are definitely at a premium as we paid just over twice the normal weekly rate. I did a lot of checking around with the different houses and found that to be not only common but the norm for Ironman week. What's more is that there are a line of people waiting to step-in should you not take the place. We had to wait until the family staying in the place decided whether they wanted to take the house again next year before she would offer it to us. Since I called last week before registration opened, I was first in line. Should I have not taken the house then the lady said that there were four families in line for the house. I suspect that the houses out around the lake do not go as quickly ... but having three kids it was worth it to be close to the festivities and the race course in order to make it a little easier on wifey. Point being: if you want to be able to walk to transition and/or downtown attractions then you might need to go ahead to lock in a place soon. |
