So, it appears that politically minded folks still get to solicit me!

Anyway, here are the (paraphrased) questions and my responses:

Would you agree that a lot of the tv shows that kids watch present negative images? "Yes"

Would you agree that this has increased over the last few years? "Yes"

Would you like to see more family-friendly shows? "Yes"

Will you sign a petition to ask Congress to regulate tv shows? "No, but if you want to send one to Disney, NBC, CBS, I will sign that.  I don't want my government to get involved.  I want LESS government and think that it is an inappropriate for Congress to work on while we are at war and in financial distress as a country.  Aren't YOU, as an alleged conservative, embarrassed to ask for more government?"

She repeated the question without response. Me "Click"

I quit answering the phone and if it is any survey, I ask them to quit calling my home.

hypothetically - I would have answered the same.

In reality, they would have never got to the first question. I don't answer unfamiliar phone #s. I am still looking or a phone provider that lets me create an "allowed" list of callers. Anyone not on that list goes to vmail directly (if they are a new caller) or auto call rejection if they are repeat offenders.

If I agreed to take the survey, I would have answered the questions in the format requested and not editorialized.

The person on the other end of that line is probably some 20 year old college kid or a divorced dad trying to make ends meet or someone else working for $9/hour. They have a script to read, and they collect your responses. End of story.

I say, "Can you hold on a second? My hands are full.". Then I walk away and hang the phone up a couple of minutes later. Hilarious.

You actually answer calls from numbers you're not expecting?
Why?

There are other, more productive, less intrusive ways to "make ends meet." I'm under no obligation to respond to unsolicited telephone calls made to my private residence, especially since I am on the national Do Not Call registry.

I respond with a polite, "No thank you I'm not interested." and hang up immediately.

That is only part of why I keep my phones on the Do Not Call roster.

X whatever. I would not have answered and if I did would have said "no thanks I would not like to participate"

There is always a pause when they call.  If I pick up, say hello, and no one answers right away, I hang up.  Can backfire when your young and new-to-the-phone niece or nephew calls, but they'll call back

As soon as I realized it was an unsolicited call, I would have said "Take me off your list."  and hung up.

But I like yours better.

I don't get it. You answered "no", why did she feel the need to repeat the question? Yes, I get that you gave your reason for your "no" answer, but that doesn't change the answer. Guess I'm not well schooled in the art of cold-survey-calling.

I would have just said "no" and left it at that. They're obviously trying to use that data to make some sort of larger decision. If my answer helps shape that decision one way or another I'm happy to participate.

And the reason I would have answered a call from an unknown number is because I have a teenager who sometimes calls from strange numbers, and I also sometimes have people calling my house thinking it's my business number.

Ask them their name.....then do this, in a very loud voice:

"John"?  Where in the hell have you been?  Look, the police have been here every day and I don't know what to tell them.  I know you killed "XXXX" and I'm not going to tell them what you did with the body, but I can't take this much more.  At least tell me where you are so I feel like I'm not in this all alone."

They'll hang up, you get a good laugh............life is good! Laughing
