Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Is there a couple you admire? What do you admire about them? I'm specifically thinking about partnerships where both people seem to play important, though not necessarily equal, roles. Can be current or historical. |

Batman and Robin? lol, just kidding The people I most admire are couples that are able to work through great adversity and continue to stay together. So, most of my power couples are people I know in my community that aren't famous at all. Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan come to mind from a famous couple standpoint. They've been through a lot but have stuck it out. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Originally posted by mehaner people have told my husband and i that we are a power couple, so feel free to admire us if you want ![]() Glad you said it first because I was thinking the same about my hubby and I I had a really good friend and husband who seemed like a major power couple to me. The both graduated from West Point where they met, made a really nice life for themselves and three sons, shared what they had with others, were very active in the community including the fitness community. Weren't we all shocked when they announced they were divorcing. The cracks started to show and it wasn't pretty. Point being that celebrity couples are often so well versed in how to handle PR and media that you never really know what's going on behind closed doors. I'm more likely to think of couples like my grandparents or others I've known personally for years who just seem happy after being together for decades. Money, power, etc. are great but really it all comes down to happiness, right? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I do admire my parents a lot - I mean, I don't think they are perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I guess as their child I am a little too close - and I definitely would not make (and have not made) the same decisions but they celebrated their 35th anniversary this weekend. They married when my mom was 18 and my dad was 20. They had kids young and despite quite a bit of adversity seem to still love each other perhaps even more than when I was younger. They definitely are an 'opposites attract' couple but have made one another a priority in the empty nest phase. They are ridiculously cute together - my dad will call her every day on his break when they are on different shifts. They leave notes for one another - and my dad is a man of few words. Anyway, they probably aren't a 'power couple' in the normal markers of success as we think of it - but they have found a way to be happy and content with their life together. Their longevity is a testament to their dedication to one another - not just to stay together because they got married but because they really want to be together. They also are very generous - always helping out neighbours, family, and friends and i think are geniunely warm hearted people. |

Every time I see those two, I just can't believe it works. WTH? I'm always perplexed by marriages with different politics. It seems like that would be a deal breaker, but I know quite a few couples who make it work. Hmmm. |

Certainly they've made some incredible contributions as a couple, but I don't know a lot about her as an individual. I'm not very tuned in to celebrity culture, but Jay-Z and Beyonce sure seem to have done incredible things as individual artists and business people and have given a lot back to their communities. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Brad and Angelina. It hurts me to say that. I don't watch many movies, and nothing of theirs since Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but they seem to want to be held accountable and hold accountable others. I just wish they weren't so darn cool looking. |

I still question how or why she married a dude that looks like a Sphynx and sounds like Jimmy Carter on Red Bull. |
