Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() We cannot run fast. Mediocre in the water. We have no significant means of attack or defense. Thank God for our thumbs and big brains. All of this started with my attempt to run barefoot at the golf course yesterday. I'm not sure that I could survive without the EXACT shoe for my demented stride. We are a lame species. |

Not becuase of their speed but becuase of their endurance. And they do it all in skimpy flat soled sandals. That's pretty impressive to me. "Born to Run" talks about this exactly. It's really a great book (only a few chapter sin so far) that asks the question how can these people run so far with no injuries yet it seems in the "civilized world" with all of our fancy shoes and orthotics we get hurt all the time... I just think maybe we have BECOME a lame species (a majority of us at least). Our potential is pretty amazing. |

My body and daily life does NOT resemble that runner in any way, except for the number of limbs that we each have. I would have given up the chase after 26.2 miles. If a marathon were 26.3, I wouldn't finish. |
