Subject: RE: sushi and the triathleteI agree-- sushi is generally quite healthy but only in moderation. It offers the heart-healthy omegas and nice clean, unadulterated protein. White rice is, of course, an empty carb but you can find brown rice sushi (though not for the sushi purist) and you also can opt for sashimi or things like tataki or naruto to skip the rice completely. Seaweed and kelp also offer immense nutritional benefit from its great vitamin and trace mineral content. Good for immune system, thyroid, blood sugar, arthritis, antioxidant protection... But as I said, everything in moderation. High fish consumption is linked to heavy metals and white rice offers little nutritional benefit, empty calories, simple sugary carbs. ...but I still LOVE it!!! |
