If I could find a deserted trail where they didn't have to be on their leashes...now we'd be talkin'! I need to run them more...WAY too much energy.... |

Venus is my hiking dog, she loves to get out on the trails and doesn't mind swimming to cross streams and can jump over my head so she can rock scramble with the best of them. Saturn had his hips x-rayed awhile back because we were going to weight pull with him and he has some mild hip problems so he doesn't go for any long runs or hikes. Don't want him to overdo it and get injured. You can see my doggies here. http://photobucket.com/albums/v321/gypsykorea/ The one named Rusty was a dog I was fostering. Lady would run all day if I'd let her, and she usually gets 1-2 miles. Vader is still a pup, but at 110 lbs, he's intimidating. I usually take him when I do my 5 am runs alone because he looks scary!! He does every other mile because he gets bored and the shadows freak him out!! |

I need to run them more since Fred is about 100 lbs and Mags is pushing 80 lbs I think. They're usually more fit, but they didn't get there 3 months in Colorado this Christmas. We also have a 13 yr old yellow lab, Honey. And my mom has a yorkie, Daisy. |

Soon though he was having trouble with the distance and I had to leave him at home. Now that I've been slowed down for the last few months, he gets me out for a walk regularly. I hope to be outrunning him again soon. |

He just loves to play in the yard and chase squirrels. Doesn't really train with me, he tends to weave back and forth and stop at every tree and fire hydrant he finds. Doesn't train 'cause he's too lazy (he won't even run a rabbit more that 20 yards). Rudi, 4 year old English Pointer. Trained with me till he got sick. molto veloce mama 9311 | Subject: RE: Tri-dogs greta - all 118 glorious lbs of her - is no longer training with me. see my limping dog thread for more details, but basically she tore her acl. she loves running with me, and needed to drop some pounds (she was 110 at her last check up 6 months ago). sadly, her weight has gone UP from running. the last few months of less exercise due to her sore leg added pounds faster than i can even believe. after her 6 week hiatus to heal, she'll be getting daily walks and hopefully a couple swims a week. poor girl. based on the size of her parents (who were both trim but big for the breed) and the average size for the breed, she should be around 80-90 lbs. we also have two cats - otto and frida - who do not do much of anything besides try and sit on the lap top while i'm typing. He does enjoy swimming and long hikes (nothing more than 5 miles). Although his tolerance for walks around town seem to be about 2 miles. Milo is a 6 and a half year old Labrador Retriever and he's a maniac. He'll run with me until he's ready to collapse, which is why I don't take him too often. Plus, he's always sniffing the ground, and he never goes in a straight line... It's just easier to walk both of the them at the same time. He loves swimming and hiking too and doesn't mind long walks. -Frank |

Member 38 Altadena, CA | Subject: RE: Tri-dogs Bugaboo (Bug for short) is a 6 year old Black Lab. I take her on all my runs. And since I'm a slow runner, she has no problems keeping up. Running with Bug is great "together time" for the two of us. We're both much happier and more relaxed when we return. |

He's usually my running partner, but now he seems to have problems with one of his back legs every time we go. :-( We think he might be getting some arthritis. Vets couldn't find anything else wrong. We're submitted an application to adopt a German Shorthaired Pointer puppy!!!! Hopefully it works out! Just look how cute they are! He's is our 3 year (approx) German Shorthaired Pointer / Beagle mix, names MURPHY, that we rescued last April. Since both breeds are hunters he loves to run. I just keep him on a 16' retractable leash so I don't trip over him is he stops. Sometimes I let him pull me a bit when I feel like slowing down or walking. My way of training the brain that I can run further and faster then I thought. He's learning agility course in obedience class.
