So, I was thinking tonight that a reward of "1 pound" isn't very fair.  1 pound means a much bigger percentage to Tara than it does to Ron.  I think rewards should be given as a bonus percentage of weight loss...i.e. 0.5% or something like that.

Tara definitely gambled...and won.  But while she will probably get to the finale, I doubt anyone can beat Mike if he loses all the weight he has to lose.  $250k will pay for his college and then some.  He had just better not pork it next week and get eliminated.

I was a little sad to see that Kristen didn't lose more weight at home.

Ron is unbelievable.  I hate to "cheer" against someone, but, it would not sadden me one iota to see Mike fall the line next week.

No kidding!  Mike and Ron were way too smug at the end.

I think that Kristen didn't lose much more weight because she wasn't at home that long before filming the follow-up.

Ron and Mike have been plugging along playing a good game. I don't think Dad has a chance of winning, but the son sure does.

I didn't like the way Ron lied to Kristin, but I can't hold that against Mike. Mike didn't know that Ron told Kristin he'd try to get Mike to keep her on. Mike did ask his dad if it was ok if he voted for Kristin and he said yeh.

I kind of like the confidence that Mike showed at the end. I don't think there is anyone there that can beat him, he has the capability to lose more than anyone else left, Tara doesn't have that much body fat left that she can lose- she is a tall girl, she maybe can drop another 20-25 lbs, but I think that is about it. Mike can lose another 40+ and he's so far ahead now in terms of % lost.

The fact is that I like his new found confidence. The kid is growing up and I'm glad he's starting to believe in himself. Now there is certainly a difference between being confident and cocky. I am not sure if he has crossed the line yet. His dad certainly has, but I'm not sure about him. I don't think so, but others probably do. I would say he's no more cocky about his weight loss than Tara is about the challenges.

Ron is very two faced. I did like Kristin and was so sorry to see her go. But at this point, it wasn't about losing weight anymore since they all only have one more week left on the ranch... it is about the Game playing aspect. And Mike had to play the game.

That being said....
Why why why why did Kristin frost her hair again? It looked so good all one color. I am very disappointed.

I didn't mind Kirsten...but man she talks alot!!! When she gave her little speech at the end about Mike taking the easy way out and he didn't have the 'competition' now.
a. She's retarded....Even though Mike can still lose alot of weight, its % based....Tara started at 280ish...she can do 140(50%). Mike was 380..he still has a ways to go to to 190. Kirsten was 380ish i believe. Her goal is to get to 200 by the finale. Thats not 50%!
b. Like she wouldn't have done the same thing Mike did. She's a funny gal. Every time her back is up against the wall, she plays that,"who's here to lose weight, and who's here to play games?' card. If she was inthe situation to vote out a threat she would do the same thing!

Tara was being such a baby at the beginning of the show. I still don't like her, she's a nut case.

Is it just me or has Kristin been sucking it up on weight lose for over a month now?

Exactly!!  I was yelling at the TV telling her to get over herself! At this point in the game really anybody can go home.  So it is a game now.  They have to play to stay in the game.  Not her week!

Anyway, I really want to see how Kristen looks at the finale. Even though she's lost a phenomenal amount of weight she still has a way to go.

I love seeing the transformations ... way to go players!

I'm not sure Tara can get to 140- she's a pretty tall girl, 140 would probably mean she would have to lose some muscle mass, too.

I think she can get to 140. It may not be a healthy 140, but remember the pas t finales. I read somewhere that some these people live of water, and saunas for the last few days leading up to the finale.

A couple of things:

1- I was SOOO happy that they talked about food and nutrition for once and NOT just as an ad for "Activia" or Ziplock ZipandSteam bags (which I have to go out and buy, btw - the ad worked on me).  Especially the mistake of UNDEReating, which is so common.

So many times I have complained that they make exercise look like torture and don't focus on nutrition enough.  They still make exercise look like torture, but hell, these guys ARE being tortured.  Since Jillian says this is not just about them anymore, but about the millions of people watching, I wish they would impart some sensible advice about how to take these examples and adapt them to the typical home life.  I did like the playing card idea and am going to do it tonight just for the fun of it.

2 - I have always been a huge fan of Tara's.  Throughout the show, she has shown that she is there to WIN, but as soon as she has won the challenge, she was right back by the other people's sides encouraging them.  Lately, I think her attitude has gone a little sour, but I think it started back when Helen ate some food to give her time on the half-marathon and she lost $10,000 because of it.  I think she really took that to heart and her attitude switched because of the realization that noone was there to back HER up.  I'm glad she didn't listen to Helen's whiny BS when up in the cages.  I think that was payback for Helen's backstabbing.

3- I DO like Mike's newfound confidence, as well.  He has worked his butt off and has earned himself the right to pride without arrogance.  I like seeing the difference in how he carries himself and talks more confidently.  A good example was how composed he was while talking with his brother who was crying because of feeling like the odd-man-out.  He has been through it himself, so he understood where his brother is and also, what his brother can become.  I hope he actually DOES go home and use what he has learned to help his brother.  He might find it's harder to instruct than to be instructed, but I hope he tries.  Maybe his brother can be on next season?

4- I never know what to think about Ron.  I am proud of what he has accomplished, but I can't quite get a bead on his attitude.  I'm not sure even HE knows where he stands.

Still not sure who I want to win, but probably Tara since she has been the most consistent and also the most supportive of others.

Just because Kristen's GOAL right NOW is to be below 200 by the finale does not mean that has always been her goal.  I think she realizes that to win she would have had to lose more than that.  I truly think Kristen had the best opportunity to win if she could make it to the end.  She was 360...if she even got to 160 she would have been well over 50%.

Mike was 388 when he started, so he does need to get to about 190 probably and I think he can...there's about 5 months between the last week on the ranch and the finale.  40 pounds in 5 months is totally doable.  But isn't he going to college after this?  That's going to be a challenge.

Last season I didn't think Michelle was going to be able to take off enough weight to win either...so I won't put it past Tara to pull it off.  However, with her uber-competitiveness I have a feeling the last few pounds will be quite unhealthy.   But I think she could weigh 140 without being too thin.

One of the first seasons the show would actually tell the body fat percentages at the end.  I wish they would go back to that.  We know they are probably monitoring BF %, so why not just tell us????

I agree - I liked Kristin but she was a HUGE baby at the end. If I was Mike all I would have said was "if you lost weight you wouldn't be in this situation"

I agree - Kristin would have voted Mike off if she had the chance - she came off a a bit of a hypocrite; and like it or not it IS a game. Once you are down to so few people why would you gamble with losing $250,000. If Kristin didn't want to be on a game show she shouldn't have joined it.

I agree with this whole Kristin thing too.  And does anyone else think that maybe her goals should be set a little higher?  It's great what she's done so far, but even if she can make it to 200 lbs., she's still 200 lbs!  That's still a lot of weight for any woman her size.  It's not just a game, it's their life, their health that they're playing for. I hope they do a show a year from now so we can see what they all do from here.

I have to agree.  It would be nice if we could get an update on EVERYONE from years' past.  I have heard that there's a lot of yo-yo weight gaining going on, but a few people have really stuck to their new lifestyle.  It would be nice if there was a website or something to check in on past contestants.

I think it would help keep them motiviated, as well.

Aha!  http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28239000/

What do you know?  They don't show EVERYONE, but I was pleasantly surprised, given NBC's history of using their "creative license" that they don't only show those who kept the weight off.

My theory is that Kristen actually wanted to go home.  She knows she isn't going to beat Mike and Tara, but by going home she has a good shot at the other prize.   The rest of it was just showmanship - she's playing the game too.

Then again, I am all hopped up on allergy meds - so who knows.

I'm losing steam on this one...  I barely made it through it last night, but I have come this far...  I watched the whole thing in about 45 min last night thanks to DVR.

Not much more to say BUT...

1.  Tara needs to HTFU...  I have officially had it with her blubbering and 'selfishness'.  I'm glad Jillian called her out on it.

2.  I understand she was upset, but Kirsten was a bit of a poor loser, IMO.  Did you notice she didn't say goodbye or give anyone a hug?

3.  Ron and Mike have been playing the game 100% from the start.

4.  I thought the video food thing was funny!  They thought they were doing SOOOOO good for Bob and he shot them down!  I promise you, they cut WAY back on the calories to try and impress.  I'm sure they eat WAY more if they are not getting taped.  But it backfired!!!  Funny...

5.  Once again, the planted 'informercials are nauseating'.  love the DVR.

6.  Last minor thing.  Was the pizza REALLY 1800 calories and 8 servings?  I'm sorry, you can get a Tombstone, or any other pizza that's about 20oz or more (about a 12" to13" pizza) and THAT is 8 servings and close to 1800 calories.  I believe they were exagerating to make a point with the 7" pizza.

I think part of Kristen's problem was not taking in enough protein and overall calories for the week.  She has been in starvation mode and it caught her.

Ron and Mike have been pretty dang lucky.  I think the only times either have fallen below the line, they were lucky enough to have someone else "more" worthly of being sent home.

Like the week Dane and Ron both fell below the line, and Dane went home.  Why did the team send Dane home when it actually hurt the team?  Ron was the weakest link yet he was left on the team.  As a result of that week the black team had multiple weeks in a row where they lost challenges and also lost team members.

I think had Dane been left, he would have been a huge challenge for Mike.  But it didn't happen.

Kristen got lucky last week, she was below the line and was not voted off.  You just can not do that week after week, sooner or later it will catch you.

Let's remember that these people are "auditioned" to be on this show.  Do you think that they're going to pull some stone-faced zombie in?  That doesn't make for very good TV, now, does it.

Ron actually makes me sick to look at.  With all of his surguries, his body is so whacked out...it's crazy.  Thank god we're to the portion where they don't want the audience to see them with their shirts off.

It's funny when people talk about losing weight vs "playing the game."  Those aren't mutually exclusive...contestants can, will, and are doing both.

Of course it's about playing the game, and anyone (expecially contestants!) who thinks it's not is out of their mind.  If it were just a show about losing weight, it would be on Oxygen at 10 o'clock in the morning, not on NBC in prime time.

Weight loss is obviously an important element of the game, but the player who best combines weight loss, challenge performance and politics/psychology/group dynamics is the one who's going to win.

Note that developing a sustainable lifestyle at a healthy weight is not an element of the game...
